How much money do you need to be rich? For these 1970s schoolchildren, to be rich can mean having £14 or £1,000,000,000. What would they do if they were rich? What would they buy? Is being rich a good thing? Can you be rich AND English?
As luck would have it, one of the children interviewed in this report for Junior That's Life has first hand experience of being rich - she has "ten million dollars hundred" in her piggy bank - so she is able to describe in great detail what daily life is like for the spectacularly wealthy. Eye-opening stuff.
This clip is from Junior That's Life, originally broadcast 1 September, 1979.

English people are (or were) brought up to be humble, self deprecating and that showing off and extravagance was a bit unseemly. ❤ I wouldn't describe their imaginative stories as "nonsense"... I love the fact they shared their ideas quite freely and the little girl with the aeroplane / helicopter, a home thousands of miles away near London Zoo, where 'you' (the interviewer) couldn't walk to but would need to fly there - 'stay away in case you discover my made-up home' (?!) - was lovely. I hope she grew up to a happy life which didn't disappoint her too much. The lad in a blue jumper was gorgeous too... Such maturity in a youngster ...makes me want to _really_ listen to more young children and from other decades (past _and_ present) too. We _think_ as children, but seldom do we really seem to be _listened_ to / _heard_. I'd like to experience a better world as imagined by children such as these... Such gems... Wonderful to get these chances to hear their views, whether or not their imagination is key to their opinions, or 'merely' dreams. We all can dream, but few attain them ...and some impractical or unwise might be best kept as dreams, but others might - and surely do, persist and become useful additions to our lives. Good Luck children... The ways of the world are often harsh but you're our future and we need your ideas.❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿❤️🇬🇧❤️😏🙂🖖

Golden Balls instead of clackers???? I was 6 in 1979 and would have frozen solid in front of a film crew, yet these kids just ADORABLE and what an imagination - we forget our little selves as we age yet we are still so young, I never imagined the year 2022 for example and although 49 still working class and just as poor. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I love kids back then over 40 years ago! Also that little girl is so good in imagination and good vocabulary, this also goes to show you that four years old back then can even talk like they are eight or nine now! This just shows you how already grateful they are! I remember now when I ask kids this question they gave me the same answer: Buy a million houses and get a private jet!

Back when kids wished and dreamed for a stair carpet. We’ve really gone wrong at some point with the expectations of society and the things they expect to have as a given. People used to be content with very little, now not so much.

It's about perspective in the middle ages even kings and queens had a lower quality of life than today's peasants. If anything it's a good thing that the standard of living is so high today because it means that humanity is progressing unless you hate progress because you had to suffer and therefore everyone else should too and I would argue that's a you problem.
