A big win at the time and an indication of how good this group would be (Blackledge, Warner, etc.). Fiesta Bowl has been a good bowl for the Lions.

this game was played in December 1980, the next season NBC moved the game to New Years Day and it became a major bowl game

Same thing happened with Citrus Bowl in 85.That one went better for Ohio State

Back when PSU was still an independent. It sure was a shock to the system when they joined the Big Ten.

Donley had pretty damn good speed and took some hard hits and hang onto the ball.

Ohio State won Bowl Games next 3 years and 5 of the next 6.Only Bowl losses during Earle Bruce years were on NBC.

This game convinced me that Schlichter was never going to fulfill the promise that his sophomore year held. PSU threw some different looks at him in the 2nd half, and he was confused, hesitant, and then, seeming not to care

What were they teaching QB's back in the day? Blackledge is backpedaling to his left, then has to spin around and throw with this right arm. I've seen it before and it just baffles me

I just watched the '81 PennState vs Pitt game on Saturday and he was still doing the same thing as a Senior. I thought it was odd when I saw it too.

Art said Earle Bruce said in halftime interview it was time to establish run 🏃♀️. Momentum and game was lost by change in strategy. Art and his dad went to horse races after game

I will AlwYs be a Fan if AnyTeam that Takes on the Buckeyes. ......They stack their Schedule and believe the their Own Hype. Penn State doesnt get Half of their Respect........but more Penn Staters have long NFL Careers, and make the HOF

Bucks ran into another great running back in 80 with Curt Warner after Charles White in 79 Rose Bowl

Back when PSU had a oline..could run the ball on anyone...now they can run against no one.
