The "TMI" is what made this show so funny! Bob was more than willing to let contestants give as much detail as the "censors" would allow. Great entertainment!!!

That must have been cool. Being on a game show and then keeping a tape of it and even putting it on you tube later. I was on the news in 1980 as a young 20 year old computer salesman demonstrating a Texas Instruments TI 80 Home computer when they were first becoming a new thing. I got to watch it but never had a copy of it. It was really fun for me at the time. The next day a kid said...HEY, I saw you on TV last night....lol

Loved watching. Hasn't tv changed its morality, can't watch anything with the grandkids anymore unless I watch it first myself, to make sure there are no surprises.

I loved this show and looking back, what a great show. I didn't realize it was kind of racy. I guess when I was little those jokes went over my head. Bob Eubanks, what a host!

One of my top three game shows ever! I can watch this show again and again 💗 I would absolutely love a revival of this show with THE MAN Bob Eubanks hosting! He will always be the perfect host of this show! I developed a crush of older women watching this show as a youngster! 💗

I liked the original the best, from the 1960s, but I watched this no matter what year it was made. Bob Eubanks sure kept his babyface looks for decades!! Dawn and her husband look about age 16. I was 19 when this episode was new, so some of these people in this ep are probably 65 by now, and grandparents.

This is a February 1980 episode of the American TV show "Newlywed Game" and it's from the 1979 syndicated version. The four couples competing on this episode are Gwen & David, Stevie & Jack, Dawn & Charles and Jenelle & Rod. 🇺🇲 🇺🇲

Ms Janet I found a Pinterest of toys and items from my childhood. I couldn't stop looking. Do you remember yoyo shoes with the braided straps, gold stretch belts, rainbow shirts, and Maybeline roll on lip gloss? What a wonderful world.

I watched this game during the late 1960's, as a child.I was 19 when this ep was made. Many of the husbands on the 1960's eps were in the military then. I wonder if those couples from 1980 are still married.That one guy looks 16, the one called Charles.

Hi Michelle, Yes, the young couple that won the game shared with my husband and I that they were 16 and 17 and had a baby. They were so cute!

Gosh that would mean that cute little couple is well into their 50s now, my husband's age, and that baby is 40. I love your hair in this. Congrats on still being together after all this time. Makes me wonder out of all those shows how many couples are still together.

Hey, they did about 2 or 3 years ago, it was hilarious, it played at an odd hour, 5 -6 am. a black lady Sherri Sheppard, I think hosted it. She is wonderful, very funny. Now she is on " Funny you should Ask " part of the time... 😎🙂😎

I remember this particular ep when new. I have often wondered if the couples of any decade of the Newlywed Game are still married or still living (early 1960s eps), and if I watch old documentaries filmed in the USA I wonder if the background people are still living. The woman on this episode with short and curly blond hair looks like Georgette of the Mary Tyler Moore show, married to Ted Baxter.I always liked this game show.

@@kambreesuncle2So we disagree, Big whoop! Steve is hilarious. The show concept is excellent. Our cultures level of impolite comments and behaviour bring everything out in the open with no filters. The earlier shows gave us a view of innocence not present today. Families from around the country exaggerate the difference. Go troll someone else. May the snark be with you at your next family gathering and spill hot sarcasm in your deflated lap.

Very good question. We were sent to a “soundproof room” which was a closet with old mattresses up against the wall. The magic of Hollywood was very disappointing. Thanks for asking!

The 1977-80 syndicated version was taped at KTLA in Los Angeles and, later, at the "Chuck Barris Stages" at Ren-Mar studios in Hollywood. Same for "The Dating Game."

No, we never did. I am so lucky that I was able to take this show (borrowed a beta machine--prior to VHS) the night it aired in April, 1980.
