A heads up, those Phillip screws on the fuel bowl are not Phillips, you need what are called JIS screwdrivers (Japanese Industrial Standard), designed to be non slipping. Thanks for the Video, I need to do the same.

@@eebarreto A bit latte on the reply, never got the notice, think one needs to click on the bell icon in order to get a notice. That said, your replacements may be Phillips, you can use Phillip's (most everyone does) but that does not mean it is the correct tool as it is not. If it is a tough one they can strip the heads where a JS set would not. I don't have a JS set either just am very careful using the Phillip drivers.

So, those carbs, if they are the same as mine, usually have a fuel diaphragm that shuts off the gas flow until vacuum is created in the #3 carb. sometimes a prime will get em working if they are fairly clean. I am doing my 82 . There is nothing to em, just takes the time
@njpaddler
@njpaddler 3 жыл бұрын
Mark, well done. Your description of the vacuum at the diaphragm raising the needle for the main jet was perfectly correct, so that ain't just you talkin.

you need to look close at the float pins, they have a spring that sometimes sticks. Also sometimes they loose their spring. All of them should be even.

what year of bike did this come off of? I'm doing the carbs on my 82 cb650 and it seems the rebuild kit I bought ( 4into1.com/set-of-4-deluxe-carburetor-rebuild-kit-honda-cb650/ ) doesn't have the correct gasket despite the website listing my bike as compatible. My only thought is that these carbs might have come from a different year seeing as they match the one from this video. Any info would help me out a lot seeing as I would like to buy the correct kit this time around. Thanks in advance

This kit worked for me. I had to make sure that the gasket matched the shape of the bowl. The other kit I got was way off from what I needed. These old bikes can be more Frankenstein’d together than we realize at the time of purchase. Hope this kit works for you. @mkruk2 3 жыл бұрын
Adex, to me it sounds like your carb bowls are overflowing with gas. These floats are plastic and have non-adjustable tangs. I think the issue might be the float valves. They may be stuck open due to crud or some other surface deformity that is preventing them from sealing up. I would try cleaning the float valves or replacing them.

@davidwwalkerii
@davidwwalkerii 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly dude I just got an 85 and taking off the carbs is a bitch. You’ve gotta take out the battery, unbolt the two bolts holding the air filter box under the seat, unclamp the carbs from intake boots and air filter runners, pul the air filter box back as far as possible, then AGGRESSIVELY wiggle the carb up and down while pulling back and it’ll eventually come out. There’s a vid out here somewhere that shows it I just can’t think of the name right now
