A thrilling game between Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest from September 1981, played in front of a crowd of 19,035 at St Andrews.

A lively entertaining game from a great era of proper football. I recall it was good enough to be featured on ‘Cloughies Golden Oldies’ a 1987 series in which Brian Clough looked back at memorable football matches featuring Midlands sides from the 70s/80s 🤗⚽️

I watch all Liverpool 80s and started watching other teams games. Love it! That Birmingham 2ng goal was great

Nice to see so many British players rather than all the over paid foreign mercenaries that fill the English game today.

The players from overseas, have ruined the game, as we knew it, they have only come here for the money, I remember when the Blues team, contained "EIGHT" Brummies. (1936/7) Big Joe Bradford (goal machine) was my favourite player, I saw Big Joe, score a Hat Trick, from our Attic Window, in Tilton Road, against the Villa. Memories. Coop90

Forest looked pretty fragile considering they still had the backbone of the title-winning team: Shilton, McGovern, Anderson, Burns, Robertson.

Am I correct in thinking the same fixture in the following season (maybe the preceding season) was also 4-3? I remember it being an equally good game, swinging back and forth.
