The reason it calls the mandolin effect as such is that mandolin players use a lot of tremolo. It is intended for single note lead not chords.

so JUST bought one of these... And i mean like about 1 hour ago. and all the haters and nay-sayers can just shut it. I collect old & valuable synths mainly. But i got this DG-1 cheap and it is awesome. Such a fun little gizmo!

From 1981, and it tracked much better than my Jammy does. Casio should reissue this, with MIDI out.

I know I'm very late to this, but in 1987 they made the DG-20 which does have MIDI out.

I do have a "YouRock" guitar controller. The onboard sounds aren't that good but the MIDI implementation is SIGNIFICANTLY better

Had a go on one when they came out, a kitchen full of drunk rock guitar players trying to make sense of it , pretty grim, amazing it still works.

i get what they mean by mandolin. mandolins players are know for tremolo (fast picking to sustain a note)

How come these guitars never caught on? I remember seeing one on 'Vice Versa' and thought it was the coolest thing in the world. But then again, I don't know anything about guitars.
