During the making of the film Brainstorm, Wood drowned while on a weekend boat trip to Santa Catalina Island on board Wagner's yacht, Splendour. Many of the circumstances surrounding her drowning are unknown; it was never determined how she entered the water. She was with her husband Robert Wagner, Brainstorm co-star Christopher Walken, and Splendour's captain, Dennis Davern, on the evening of November 28, 1981. Wood's body was recovered by authorities at 8:00 a.m. on November 29, one mile away from the boat, with a small Valiant-brand inflatable dinghy, found beached nearby. According to Wagner, when he went to bed, Wood was not there. The autopsy report revealed that Wood had bruises on her body and arms as well as an abrasion on her left cheek

There is no way that she would have gone anywhere near that dinghy. I think at the very least, Wagner was guilty of drunken negligence.

I believe so also. I hope it haunts him.... And it might. But WHY ON EARTH was he so well protected??!! Was he such a brilliant killer to have pre-planned his famous wife's murder to such a perfect degree? Was he simply lucky?? Hopefully this financially broke him with semi-constant hush-money! Shame on that slimy captain!!!!!!! He has no credibility and that is endlessly unfortunate because he could have been the hero. Perhaps he was involved even. Immediately after the deed (?). He may have felt he had little choice walking in on the moment. Who knows, but how could police allow this to go cold- not reopening this for THREE DECADES!?!? Wait____ there were actual witnesses? As I understand it, they were not interviewed until LONG after. Or just simply dismissed, if at the time. What are your thoughts Carmen?

Only Wagner and Walken know the truth. It’s up to everyone else to speculate... I think anytime that alcohol is involved in any incident, the circumstances are then tainted with variables. So it’s difficult to assume anything logical under abnormal circumstances.

That's ironic really because that's the reason why their first marriage ended in divorce Only it was the other way around, Natalie Wood walked in on Robert Wagner in bed with another man (a well known actor apparently) She didn't really talk about it. Maybe she wasn't having an affair with Christopher Walken, maybe Robert Wagner was and did she catch them at it??.

When I saw once upon a time in hollywood and the stuntman is assumed to have killed his wife on a boat and gotten away with it I immediately thought of Natalie and wondered if Wagner was ever rejected by hollywood society due to speculation and it being creepy. Everyone focuses on Sharons character not dying in that film but forgets about the woman who does.

Wagner should have been charged with 2nd degree murder. He refused to use the searchlight to look for Natalie, refused to call for help for hours and wouldn't even identify her body. But Davern is almost as guilty for not disobeying Wagner and calling anyways. He was the skipper - that's his responsibility. Rest in peace, Natalie.

Why are you sticking up for Wagner? If you read the book that the skipper wrote, and Lana's book, you will change your mind. And the scrapes and bruises on Natalie's body were inconsistent with just soneone falling in the water. Wagner wanted to kill Beatty because of jealosy too but he didn't get the right opportunity he was looking for. And if you don't know, Natalie caught Wagner having sex with a guy and that is why she divorced him the 1st time. She should have never got back with him. @@susanb2015

more than likely, he probably wants to be granted immunity before exposing what he really totally knows first, before he puts himself out there or totally out there rather, so one thing you got to consider, he was obviously given hush-money , which is obvious cuz they all three went to the same place to get their stories and facts straight now I didn't they, behind closed doors , where they were safe and Cozy together, like three peas in a pod right after the murder for a few days , which would lean him more towards being not only an accomplice, but now, a more than likely a-paid off accomplish, which is even a little more on the darker side i would think, to capital murder charges 'so no matter how you stack the cards, that's what it is, you got two grown men who wouldn't help an innocent, woman, who was obviously crying out for help, pleading for her life, and how do we know this? Well now we find new Witnesses' who have come forth, to prove this, who had heard her crying out to them for help, an innocent woman, why you stood back and did nothing, other than behave like 2 given gutless cowards , and not to mention ' obviously cover it up for years with each other, wow, what's that going to do for your career Christopher Walken's who refuses to talk now oh, about any of it, people get a clue, law enforcement, here's an interesting concept, do your damn job oh, it's obvious what happened, the woman had bruises all over her , a count of something like 22 ? and her neck, ? Really ? Give me a break ???? It doesn't take Einstein to figure out what the fuck is going on here !!! Or what happened ? Give her her family, and the common man some Fair Justice for a change ' don't you think we all deserve it after how many plus years? Don't even get me started on Kennedy ...
