That’s a very special car indeed. From an era when I was getting into cars and especially rallying, I remember watching Russell Brookes hooning his around the RAC rally’s of the early 80s

Very very special, I enjoyed this one enormously. Rally cars of the 80s were just something else.

Great video Jake. It's good to hear the car gets used so much in a world where so many are squirreled away as investments. Loving the the video format too. Well done.

Thanks so much! A new style was rried with this and I feel it worked well for this car. The road up to Thruxton is great for a blast in a vehicle like this for sure!

Lovely car will look even better when striped up again. Where on earth did he get the long stroke crank from? Last time I was looking Farndon would only make a run of 20 cranks minimum. I've got the block all machined and Blydenstein/Cosworth pistons ready to go to 2.6.

You obviously like the car, but as a member of DTV at the time, I can assure you that this car is an AitchSR, not a HaitchSR. So far as I am aware, all the HSRs were actually converted from the original HS Chevette of which they made (ahem) 400.

Thanks for watching the video Roger and you're quite correct, I do like the car and it's clear to see that you like them too. However, the owner of this car has a long history of working within the Vauxhall company and is a bit of a Vauxhall nut, hence why they are the chairman of the Droop Snoot Group (DSG) and because of that, I am inclined to believe that the information they have supplied me regarding this particular car is correct.

Love it .. I nearly bought a 1.3 Chevette not long after I got my test and a friend of the family had a full HSR kit he would have sold me. Wish I had done … £200 for the mint condition Chevette and 50 quid for the kit .. you have to love the 90s. What would that have been worth today????
@FuelPower

This car is worth about £60k+ now (with the engine mods). Chevettes are not something i got to experience much of as they were mostly gone by the time I got into cars but this one has me kind of hooked, I might be wanting a fast Vauxhall now.... 😅
@CooperSTraveller

Totally … even the 1.3 I should have bought would be hitting £20k I’m sure by now and the kit would be several thousands. I do love Vauxhalls of this era as they were my childhood memories.

A mate of mine had one, it was one of Vauxhalls ex race cars, an absolute beast.... Please, please keep the music to a minimum, for old gits like me, the music becomes dominant, and difficult to follow what you're saying.... Thanks.. 😊😊🍺👍

A normal Chevette wouldn’t get near 100 mph so a bit of a daft comparison. You say it’s loud, all we heard was pointless music. As for rallying, never saw one once, saw Ascona, Manta and Firenza but not a shove it.
