Was born 4 years after this ad was release, so I never got to experience the 767 being new. And now it's being retired from passenger service and only seeing a resurgence in cargo.
@peachworks_en2 жыл бұрын
It’s kinda crazy that these ex-AA 767s are flying into my nearby airport which is a cargo hub for UPS and Amazon. In a way I can say that American “flew” 767s to my airport, just indirectly.
@tiadaid2 ай бұрын
@@peachworks_enSame here, a cargo airline here in Malaysia operates an ex-American 767 built in 1985. So I too have an American 767 flying into my airport indirectly.

Horrific that an American Airlines 767 exactly like this one was the first hijacked airliner to be intentionally crashed into the WTC tower 1. It was AA Flight 11.

This video is a reminder of how fast the decades have gone by. This video features the 767-200(ER), the last of which were retired in May 2014... even their newer 767-300(ER)s were retired in May 2020. I wish the 767 was more successful.

I have this model on the MSFS 2020 flight simulator. Awesome old school plane. ✈️
@tiadaid2 ай бұрын
The 767 IS successful. Over 1,300 delivered, and production lasting almost 50 years (1981-2027). Compare that to the Airbus A380 - a short production and only 254 planes produced.
@ChrisZoomER2 ай бұрын
@@tiadaid Well yeah, I know. Definitely among the most iconic wide-bodies, and even among the most iconic planes to ever graze the skies. But it has even more potential than that. The same goes for the 757, but the 757 really fell short on its potential, much more so than the 767.

Fr. It does say “Now daily service to New York” so that means when Kevin McAllister (Macaulay “Mac” Culkin) accidentally takes the wrong path, that must’ve been the 767 heading to New York instead of Miami.

American Airlines really isn’t “American” anymore then it used to be. Due to that extremely ugly “Project Oasis”
@WiLDCATZ Жыл бұрын
They were great planes but served 3 decades for American. Those airframes had a lot of cycles and it was cost prohibitive to keep them flying. Even the far newer A330s they inherited from USAir they got rid of during Corona merely for fleet simplification. The main issue is American has done a terrible job with adequately replacing the 767. Just as they did a terrible job in replacing the A300 and MD-11 that were previously retired. They should have kept the A330s flying with the 767 gone. The A330-800 Neo would've been perfect to do the type of flying to the Caribbean, Domestic and Europe AA used the 767s and A306s on. At least the A321XLR/Neo is a half decent replacement for the 75s. And not like they purchased enough 787-8s to pick up the slack of domestic and shorter international flights the 763s were doing. Sucks all these narrow body planes doing the flights that used to be nothing but heavy jets in the AA fleet.

@twiff3rino285 ай бұрын
@WiLDCATZ Not quite: all the A330-300's were from 2000-2001, so they were around the same age as many of the 763's. The A330-200's were the newer ones.

I'm still surprised that AA switched to a full-body paint job for their aircraft a few years ago. Applying paint to the entire fuselage costs between $100k and $200k per plane and adds hundreds of pounds, reducing fuel efficiency and passenger/fuel capacity.
@johneddy9085 ай бұрын
Lightweight, all-composite airliners, like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, required a full-body paintjob.
@jamestorrens6455 ай бұрын
seriously? Paint adds "hundreds of pounds" to the plane?
@MrWhipple425 ай бұрын
@@jamestorrens645 Yes. Painting a 747, for example, averages 1200 pounds, according to Boeing. Pick up a gallon of house paint and imagine how many of those it takes to cover a 737 or A321.
