Thanks for taking the time to make a thorough description. For a person trying to source parts, who perhaps like me lives somewhere where they are unable to look at another bike, it's very useful. Also of course for reassembly months later :)

Hi there Brook, thank you for all your great instructional videos. I may have to remove the front engine cover on a R100RS. Apart from the grille, what else do I need to remove to get at the front engine cover - both lower fairing panels, and the oil cooler? Can the oil radiator be dropped down or does one have to remove it completely?

You don't have to remove the oil radiator to remove the front engine cover. You do need to disconnect the ground cable from the battery first.

@@BrooksAirheadGarage It does look like everything is very tight behind the fairing. So you just remove the grille?

I’m trying to assemble the front center piece of the fairing on a 1979 r100rt. Do I have to separate the brake lines to fit the piece properly? I can’t determine where those lines go through It appears that they pass alongside the oil cooler

Who would you suggest for ordering new fasteners for the fairing, I am missing a few, which I think is causing a bit of rattling from the fairing

NYCZ31, any BMW motorcycle dealer should be able to get them for you. You can also try Euro MotoElectrics (www.euromotoelectrics.com) as they stock a lot of BMW airhead parts.
