This is the first model year for the KX500. In 81-82 Kawasaki produced the KX420. This 83 is a beast and it's one of my favorite big bore bikes.

Yeah that's a show condition bike. Motorcycles generally aren't measured to the same finite standards as cars, because there are a lot less of these show condition motorcycles around and this is a show condition bike (in my opinion).

@@arthurmchugh5184 His had very light Grey plastic aftermarket fenders, and a dark blood red plastic aftermarket tank. Black stock frame, I believe stock suspension. I rode it a bit when I was 12-13, I had a rm 125, but that old 360 was really something else. It took a whole different approach to riding a track. It'd make you strong quick that's for sure! Great power for the age....not weak by any means at all. Wish I kept it...Dad's been gone 12 years now. I have a 95 yz250....it's fun....fast....does the trick.

Lovely looking bike, it pretty much looks new! When I was 16 I had an RM125 to race and a Suzuki TS50X for the road (in the UK you're only allowed a 50cc road bike at 16, they do about 37mph flat out lol). One day I was riding the TS50X at a local waste ground hangout with some friends when a bunch of guys on dirt bikes turned up, one of them had an '83 KX500 exactly like this. In jest I remarked "I bet you wouldn't let me ride that" and he responded, "take it out". So I stepped off a 50cc bike straight onto a 500cc 2-stroke. Probably the scariest motorcycle I've ever ridden including big street bikes etc., will never forget it, even on asphalt in 3rd/4th gear it spun the rear wheel and lifted the front at the same time

had one as a 15 yr old as my father purchased it brand new in a crate and had all hes friends over to put it together over a bbq and some drinks, first ride he instantly regretted it and realised it was alot different to hes XL 250 Honda, which was handed down to me,he parked the green loud bike and we shared the Honda for 6 months or so till one weekend he said i trust you enough to be careful on the kawasaki not to hurt yourself and that was that ,i hurt myself and that was that the KX was sold on for a considerable loss
