Hello. I acquired this sled early in 2021. I bought it from the original owner who is now 94. I plan on going back once it runs to give her a ride on it once again. I gave a good try to start it but no success. Later revisited it and cannot get it started. I'm currently mentally troubleshooting it and will post a video when I get back to the machine. Thanks for watching! Kevn on 4 Wheels

First thing to do after confirming spark, take carbs OFF and completely disassemble and clean them including the Jets to ensure trouble-free running if it's been setting for more than a few years. A little hint, after you clean the carbs and ensure Spark dump just a little bit of mixed gas down each spark plug hole before you pull start 500 times, lol, that will get it firing, I've done it for years and it doesn't hurt the motor.

Lot of good suggestions here, your in tank fuel line will surly be disintegrated by now. Gonna have to replace that in tank line. Float bowls will only receive fuel from the fuel line.

You have quite a bit of marvel mystery oil in there. IMO. Take the plugs out…..and dump some of that engineered fuel in there….then with the plugs out….crank it. Put the plugs back in….and take a squirt bottle of engineered fuel…..and spritz it into the carbs, with the slides open. With the compression, and spark you, have it will start. For a little while… If it doesn’t continue to run, 1. Do you have enough gas in the tank? 2. While it was running, did you notice fuel being pumped through the lines? Might be fuel pump . 3. Gas in tank, yes…gas being pumped..yes….clean the carburetors. Take the float bowls off and clean out the float needle and seat, and. Jets. Should run…..cool old sled.

You pour way too much things down the cylinders and into the carbs! Flooded engines don't run right away. Plus without the airbox on, it could backfire and set the whole sled on fire. I learned that the hard way after fully restoring a sled. Only the new skis were left.

You can remove the drain plugs on the exhaust side of the engine under the exhaust if you think it is hydrolocked. That cable sticking out is the choke cable. it goes in the hole in the console

Hello. I wish I remembered your comment yesterday. I completely forgot. The drain plugs were the ticket. I thought it was a crack case oil drain but ended up draining gas. Do you know it has chain case oil or crank case oil? I can’t find a dip stick anywhere. Thanks!!

I would take the carbs off and give them a good cleaning and put a new choke cable on it. First, you might want to dry out the cylinders a bit since there is fuel, marble oil etc in there lol

Thanks! I know it will run so a good carb cleaning is definitely not going to hurt. Same for the choke cable

also, you should spray the bogies, and suspension….or grease it if it has fittings, and the primary shaft….while your at it….hit the piston to your brake master cylinder, on the outside, and if it’s dry inside also….let. That soak, then whack it gently to get it moving….brake fluid and bleed. Grease the slides on the suspension and track with some lithium grease. You can get a syringe and some 90 wt….and poke those bogie bearings…. A couple drops turns the tar back to grease, and the track will move freely. Why? Because when you put power to a seized track, you have a good chance of breaking your plastic drive cogs. And they are a bitch to change.

Pretty sure DG had an exhaust for the 440/488cc fan cooled, INDY Trail SP sleds. Find one of those after getting it running again, make the older TXL and at the time contemporary Indy 400 liquid sleds look stupid running down tight twisty woods trails. The early “Trails” piped would run pretty good against the first of the 440/500 liquids on a lake and run away in the woods

That is not a 600. There was never an Indy Trail 600. That one is actually only a 440. In around 1985, Polaris upsized the Indy Trail engine to 488 cc. But the first couple or so model years, they were 440 cc (actually 432 cc to be exact)

40:00 hard to pull? You have so much oil, cleaner etc inside the cylinders and crankcase, it’s hydro locking…….crank it with the plugs out, and get that blown out of there. Put a teaspoon of fuel down the cylinders , put in plugs…..and it will start.

If you can see spark, there's enough spark. Drain everything out of the crankcase, dry the plugs, clean the carbs well.... Look for a tutorial online. Round slide mikunis and that engine practically run with no effort. Based on your prior dosage, less fuel in the cylinders is more. I think you're close.

Cross country 600? That year a trail had a 440 fan. This is painful to watch. No way it will start with that much liquid poured in there. The carbs will have to come apart after 35 years.

Don't use carb cleaner to start 2 stroke .washes the oil off the Pistons and more. Mixed gas in a oil can and prim the carbs . It it doesn't start let sit. Or some have drain plus u just look. On a 2 stroke if the crank case is of gas or whatever will not run I would had it running.
