the glory days of motocross, sorry the 4 strokes just don't cut it

10:34. I recall standing with that view of the hill when Carla came by with Malherbe on his tail. Just as they reached the little chicane at the top, Carla glanced over his shoulder, noticed that Andre was right there and gave his factory Yamaha a massive handful of throttle. You could hear the ‘braaaaap’ echoing all around the valley. Brilliant!

Unfortunately, I wasn't there, but I actually remember watching this live on World of Sport. Always thought it was cool that Kurts Dad was commentating. I used to work for a company in Hertfordshire, and we got our Argon/CO2 Gas from the Nicolls. Nice family. Anyhoo, still being a huge MX fan to this day, I've often speculated, what it would look like, with that exact race, but with Ricky Carmichael, Bubba Stewart and Ken Roczen out there too. The crowd would have gone Apeshit when RC Doubled that last jump whilst doing a Sick inverted Whip, which didn't exist really then. Or Travis Pastrana popping a backflip over the finish line jump 😁😁😂👀. Either way, the modern guys, and bikes are good. But theses guys from this ear were just badass warriors!!!

One of the old school tracks loved driving up to hodnet to watch talent like that.nt a police escort in sight or trouble like football has.and they taint us with the bad brush.sad that.

He set off for the race but decided to retire. In hindsight I think this was a mistake, he should have announced his retirement prior to the event and then retired afterwards. Noyce was a formidable sand rider and probably would have scored a podium.

@@TimGuitarcouk 😂😂 There was also tales of his drinking sessions, when they asked him what he thought to today's riders and tracks he said they spend to much time in the air. The only thing you can do up there is clean your goggles or fiddle with yr nob 😂 we have produced some fantastic talent in the UK Graham is up there with the best of them.🤙

It was the early 80's when I used to ride in the AMCA Motocross I was in my late teens I managed to get up to the 250cc seniors untill a road bike accident put a stop to it,,,this is when it was proper Motocross instead of this flying through the air crap..
