80's basketball was basketball at its apex. It was a culmination of skill, finesse, and physicality. Sure there's still plenty of skill, finesse, and athleticism in the modern game but the physicality along with the passion is gone. No more hand-checking, hard fouls constantly, severe trash-talking and heated rivalries to the utmost degree. We'll never see basketball fans like this or physicality ever again.
@omnivorous654 жыл бұрын
What? There is so much more skill in today's game than back then. 2:32. A shooting guard, Danny Ainge, at the 3 point line with a defender sagging off 8ft and he is not taking the shot? Both teams would get absolutely hammered by today's top teams. The defence by current standard is atrocious. Maybe you have the occasional hard foul. Big deal. But that defence would be shredded by a team like Houston or the GSW of the last couple of years. Half of the players on the court could not shoot a long ball, accuracy and range is just poor. And these were the top teams. Today's defence needs to cover soooo much more real estate. Anyone who claims that these were better basketball players than contemporary players are simply delusional.

Your comment is semi dumb because you just as easily could have said ,if you didn't have such a twisted brain that everybody that beat bird says a lot about them..... So your comment is neutral It's obvious and it's irrelevant it was better off not said ...Small comment with a lot of basketball dumbness sorry Charlie just had to let you know

yup. The Boston Garden had no air conditioning at the time. On game 5 the "Heat game", it was even worse

I am sad how the NBA league has turned out. I used to love watching the NBA, I have not had any interest in the last ten years. I tried to watch Indiana with Lebrun and it was such a joke - Indiana put all four of their players in the corners of the half court and let Lebron go one on one from the top of the key for 7 possessions in a row. I just turned it off and haven't watched since.
