this bike is coming out better than I could ever imagine. however, I will be pulling the engine back out to put in its original chassis! so I will be keeping an eye out for another CR500 engine.

As a legally blind person, the POV rides bring back good memories of when I use to ride Yamaha IT 250 in the 90s as a teen. If people can't handle a 2stroke, those single tracks are fun on bikes like the old reliable Honda XR 250R.

LOVED watching this video- your remarks after your ride are spot on- just get out and ride! Even if it's short spin. Dirt bikes equal mental therapy. Well done!!

Watching you ride almost makes me want another bike. Even though the last one i had put me in the hospital and it was a year before I learned to walk again.

Cool!!! In so many ways!! The way you describe the different in frames is very informative. I'd love to ride there! Looks epic! That single trail is what I have done for decades in Australia. - And the mountains in the background at the start, what a view!

I put a flywheel weight on my 500 af and it made the tight trails very doable. Bike could dang near stall out and keep going. Sweet ride!!

Bro, i remember taking my 97 yz250 down trails like that out in cali, and i HATED it hahaha just 2nd gear idle the whole time.

I think it was IMS that made a wide ratio gear box for the CR500. I think AJ Wagner got permission to clone it. You might just add one of those at an E-start. That would be pretty sick build for the Desert single track for sure and likely something not a lot of guys have.

It would be cool to retro fit 85 plastics onto the af, to have the 85 looks with aluminum chassis, but modern suspension to me that would be sick

The best thing you can do for any bike but especially a vibrating 2 stroke is install a Mako 360 bar clamp, it's pricey but worth every single penny, it makes a huge improvement, many top pros like Cody Webb and Graham Garvis use it and it's some of the best money I've ever spent on my bike, as far as as the stabilizer is concerned it's only good for high speed desert racing.

I've always struggled on an aluminum frame bike, very rigid and stiff. Maybe its because im used to riding a different style and an AF kinda cramps that ? Haven't found one i like yet with a big enough cockpit. My Xr650 is is a peach.
