Thank you so much for posting this video. This brings back a ton of great memories, especially before Darryl Gwynn got in his accident. As a teen, I spent a lot of time at Brainerd international raceway. We had a cabin very near the track, and got free tickets to all the races. Such a great time during the 80’s.

I was there.....The very first Pro Stock Challenge was run at that race and I still have the button stating that. We were running Super Gas....Over 200 cars in round ...

Every old So-Calif drag-racing fan was already doing fist pump's when the FC semi was over! Paulde vs Lil John in the Finals, the only thing that would have topped that would have been a Snake vs Goose final, can't have it all I guess 😂👍 but honestly, seeing an old So-Cal Outlaw named Lil John Lombardo Win The U.S. Nationals was the next coolest thing to seeing Snake Win it! 😎

Yes, unfortunately without the golden baritone voice of The GOAT Dave McClellan it was only half of what it could have been. Ol' Brock was a great guy, a legendary car guy really, but Big Mac & Evans were on a different level, especially when paired together 💪 The GOAT's!!

@@Slinger43 I agree. Dave McClelland and Steve Evans together were top notch.

What a top fuel field: Joe Amato, Gary Ormsby, Darrell Gwynn, Dick LaHaie, Gene The Snowman Snow, Connie The Bounty Hunter Kalitta, and, of course, Big Daddy himself.

Definitely a golden era of drag racing. Big Daddy won back to back Top Fuel championships in '85 and '86, LaHaie in '87, Amato in '88, Ormsby in '89 and a 3-peat for Amato in '90, '91 and '92. Gwynn won the US Nationals in '89, only a few months before his accident in England. It was sad to see his career cut short. I believe he would have won multiple championships.
