I just purchased one of threes as a project needs a top end and magnito and small things. Bought it for 200$ I Got it for cheap. Can't wait to put it all together and start the baby

Can someone tell me where the pulse generator/pickup is located? Is it in the left side cover along with the stator or is it in the case itself in the gear box? Lost ignition on my '85 and replacing CDI and coil has not helped. The service manual does not show an accurate location that I can find just basic diagrams. Thx.

It’s inside the engine case on the left side, you have to pull the ignition rotor off and it’s underneath that. There’s wires going to it, 3 I think. Make sure your stator coil Is good along with the CDI box and the regulator rectifier.

Its a 83 or 84 if it has 2 carbs ..sorry but there all gr8 bikes 85 last yr and oil upgrades single carbed

gypsymanjeff 21 yep, 85’ was best, especially with an oil cooler and a pumper carb, exhaust and cam, CR forks and shock, that would be a bike.

It’s an 85 it has dual carbs they had this bike for 2 years in the us and 3 years in Canada

I think after i get mine running ,i'm going to have to sell it as parts for these bikes are getting increasingly difficult to find.

I just bought one, it had bent valves, I replaced them did the valve adjustment and I have a ticking noise in the top end at idle, does your bike have noise? I'm not sure what this bike is supposed to sound like

Check your Valve Clearance.Also loosen the oil supply line on the back of your head just a little to make sure your oil pump is working.

Not a 85 if it has dual carbs, it's probably a 84 since they changed to single carb model in 85 it also came with front disk brake

Not True.I have 2 85 XL-350R s and they both have 2 Carbs.Also 84s also had Front Disc Brakes.

MIke is right, I have 2 an 84 and 85, identical just difference in color. Both years had dual carbs. 1984 XR350 had duals just like XL, but only 1985 XR350R had single carb, and both have front disc
