The rust free 86 Chevy S10 Blazer is back for another round of repairs. I got the Blazer running in my last video, but the idle would go to the moon and not came back giving me a runaway condition. So to fix it I go through the vacuum lines, the TPS sensor, the MAP sensor, and the IAC to track down the problem. I had a very hard time finding any information on these 2.5L equipped S10 Blazers. I ended up finding vacuum diagrams for the engine that I could use on a 3rd Gen Camaro/Firebird Forum named thirdgen.org
(www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech-.... I have 1 last video coming on this Blazer. I will address the non-working power steering and fix the tailgate latch handle.
This Blazer will live on as ‪@BoostedStreetJunk‬ has bought it and will be making it into something special on their KZfaq channel.

This thing sounds like a jet engine when you start it up. I haven't seen an Iron Duke in many years, brings back memories. Those old Dukes were pretty unkillable back in the day. I remember my best friend had one (S10) when I was a younger man, and we put that thing thru hell. Couldn't kill it to save your life.

It has earned a solid reputation as a work horse motor much like the Jeep 4.0L and the Ford 300 straight 6 have.

I’ve always wanted a S10 Blazer, at least with a 2.8, because I always felt that the 2.5 was too doggish with the weight of them. Thankfully they’re easy to work on, it’s just all the vacuum lines that makes it intimidating. Good video

The 2.5L is a bit under powered for the weight of this vehicle. The channel Boosted Street Junk bought the Blazer and will be making it faster. The videos should be on their channel soon.

I had to change out the IAC on my 03 Sonoma, they seem to be a common issue for the 4.3s and the older ones too aparently!

They're a common problem not just on S10's.

they may have messed with the base idle setting

It was a replacement IAC that wasn't setup properly when replaced. Setting the new part and driving it over 40mph "calibrates" them. This truck now has a turbo LS in it installed by the new owner.

Ignition control module I know that is the problem with my 92 chevy s10

It was the IAC. If I'd been able to drive it over 40 mph and for more than 10 mins it would have reset itself fully. Thanks for the tip👍

So I still have a little issue’s. When I give it throttle at the stop it wants to stall out and die unless I feather it? Any suggestions?

Did you try to reset the IAC like I did in the video? It has to relearn the position and fully correct itself after being driven. If the IAC is good try following the other steps in the video and test the vacuum lines, TPS, etc. Unfortunately I don't know any magic for this problem. You have to trouble shot the different systems to diagnose what's giving you the issue. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

thats not runaway idle thats high idle. Usually a vacuum leak or stuck iac

It was the IAC. If I'd let it go it would have kept climbing and runaway.

@@6percentrecycled yes I have keys, but I don’t not feel that it is catching the mechanism inside, and I cannot see how to open it from the inside, and I don’t wanna break it

@@arturogomez2263 The tailgate inner trim wont come off without breaking it unless you have the tailgate in the down position. Try watching this video I did on replacing the lock cylinder. I opened the tailgate with a screw driver. As long as the glass will open you should be able to eventually make the tailgate open. Just be careful. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zth1rJiTp9nUgqs.html
