This film deserves an appropiate remaster. It has to be treated and aknowledged as a work of art, not only a documentary. Like G'olé in 1982, these two films can be considered the result of an amazing job in the 80's that blended both a beautiful soundtrack (made by Rick Wakeman) along with a wonderful script that keeps the tense environment until the very last moment.

Technically the Brazil team of 1986 was the strongest in my opinion. They conceded only 1 goal , missed a penalty and lost on penalties. Just plain unlucky, yet it was destined to be Maradona’s year the greatest footballer that ever lived.

My dad grew up in poverty in Mexico. He moved to Mexico City in 1981 at the age of 15 from his village in Hidalgo, he spent his years selling water on the streets. In 1985 he survived the massive earthquake that he saw so many die in. He was also there for the 1986 world cup, he told me times a many that it was the most magical time during his 10 year stay. He said so many people of different nationalities making their way through the streets. He never had the luxuries of going to a game but he ALWAYS saw it on TV. He said so many people were overwhelmed with their success in the tournament and that Hugo was also a huge disappointment but it didn't matter because they had spirit and his FAVORITE club teams (Cruz Azul) goalkeeper Pablo Larios. He tells me the 1980s was his favorite decade and the largest tournament of the world in his hometown was a huge reason why. He also had a huge fascination with disco music which was the reason his nickname was "Disco Loco" by his friends and colleagues. Viva Mexico. Rip Maradona. On a note, Diego Maradona was also my dads favorite player of the tournament along with Platini, Quirarte, Scifo, and Toni Schumacher. My dad is still mad at Hugo for missing the penalty against Paraguay that would have won them the game
