1986 Mercedes 300e W124 Purchase. Less Rust, Less Miles, Less Problems????

Purchased a 1986 Mercedes 300e with only 49,712 Miles on it.
I will be the fourth owner.
Going over the car and finding out the Good Qualities and the items I have to service to make it roadworthy.
I will try to document the items that I can service.

Got a e300 3.0 v6 1991 in perfect shape for a incredible 4000 euro here in the netherlands , No worn out seats nothing,just like factory new Bought it from a rich old lady with 495000 km on the odo and it drives and looks like brand new , Its a manual 5 speed 0-60 mph in 7,8 sec a beast of a car

I have an '89 300CE for 22years. You'll need that 17mm wrench to change the fuel filter. Flex joints are probably cracked in many places. Run a can of SeaFoam in the fuel at fillup- will clean the injectors and give smoother idle. Replace the power steering filter and fluid Pelican Parts is a good parts supplier for the 124's- they also have online tech diy articles which are easy to follow. Replace the air filter if its dirty. You got a good one there.

Thank you for the Suggestions for the maintenance on the '86 300E. When the weather is warmer I can make a few videos of the items you advised. The Air Filter was the first thing that was changed. The It was Dirty.

It Funny to laugh Now that the owner could not put a blanket on the backseat before having the Michelin Man store his Spare Tires there. It doesn't wash off.

Simple Green make get the tire tracks off the back seat. Apply and scrub. If you have a steamer that may help too.

I think the AC only comes out of the two side vents. And you could consider making 1 great car out of 2 cars

A\C should come out of the center vents as well as the two side vents, as per the owners manual.

I bought my first Mercedes 300e !! 1988 i want to know if i made the right choice as a 20 year old !? Also is my dream car besides the 190e and the c280 so i think i did made a good choice

Why did you not just fix your old car? Front wings rotten- so what just put new ones on. Sills gone round jacking points- easy job to put right .

The old car the 1988 300e. Needs a new transmission. I thought the cost of 1986 300e with lower mileage was a better idea than replacing the transmission on the other car.
