Love, love, LOVE your Monte Carlo SS! Ahhh, classic 1980s styling. I really envy you, you lucky devil. I always wanted one, but in 1986 the only car I could afford was a Ford Escort. A new Monte Carlo SS cost double that, but my salary was more like a pittance. Today I drive a 2006 Ford Mustang GT that I keep in good shape, but I still wished to have a car like yours. Keep taking excellent care of it, it is a rare gem nowadays.

1978. Old farmer here retired and held an auction. Sold everything. Machinery, land - old 1 ton truck, and bought a house in town. Then he bought his first car ever, not to big, just him and the Mrs. .... A loaded to the gills T/A 6.6 gold Bandit Trans Am right off the show room floor. T-Roof, 4 gear [old truck was a 4 speed so....] I was 17 and DROOLING!

This MCSS ..is a extra clean machine..I have 2 black with TTops burgundy interior.It got stolen. After I fixed it...It was stolen at the courthouse..W.ITH no help from the police force. This was in 2002.....never found. There was a certain woman at the tag office that would never question fake signature s etc etc. But I bought another MCSS...they have almost dried up Seeing a MCSS at the car shows or on the highway cruise nights.Alot of folks ......in the day....1986....bought those cars.16.500.00 was top price...and that 305 cu 180 HP wasnt close to the muscle car years.....but I test drove one in 1986 it would bark 2 gear...So the gear ratio was there .Except the computer telling trans to shift. Well it was a failure.? Change carb .change dist to a corvette dist .and it woke it up....not many think they're not the king....but for gas mileage.big car ride...smooth with 4 speaker egualizer.....373 position 200 r4 F41 SS wishes.Its been over looked.... My first car was an 86 Monte Carlo SS. I lived in Arizona at the time and my car was stolen. I never recovered it and now I drive a POS because I refuse to allow myself to get attached to another vehicle ever again.

I have an 87 Gold edition SS T-top car I'm fixing to return everything except the motor and trans back to factory, until I can get some other things done with the suspension.

Glad everyone appreciates my car just as much as I do. Some things have changed since the video almost 5 years ago. I’ve done some subtle engine mods with a Lunati cam, full length headers with custom exhaust, ZZ4 custom chip, and few other changes. Car still is stock appearing under the hood. Always trying to stick with my “Stock But Not” look. Thanks, Scottie!

yeah i know a grand national is a buick regal with a turbo v6. What his comment sounds like though is that there is a grand national model called the GNX. But i am pretty sure a grand national is a GNX. This is by no means an argument just want clarification.

I had an “83” SS, when they first came out. Mine was the dark metallic blue, with blue and white interior. Column shift. Those HO 305 engines would scream. Lots of power. Loved that car.

Beautiful Car!!! Since I owned an 85 back in my high school days I always loved the Monte Carlo SS. With the 200 R4 and the 373 gear it got out of the hole nice and fast but unfortunately with only 180 horses the grand national, GTA, mustangs etc. left me behind. Fast forward to today and now you have super cars with 600 to 700+ horsepower rolling off the showroom floor. But rather than give in and purchase one of those new super cars I transformed a fully loaded 86 SS into my own stock looking, wolf in sheep’s clothing super car. Now my “new” favorite car.
