Trump retained Mar-a-Lago through both his divorces. His family maintains private quarters in a separate, closed-off area of the house and grounds.
Trump has frequently visited there as President of the United States, referring to it as the Winter White House and his "Southern White House". Mar-a-Lago has been used to host meetings for President Trump and international leaders, including Japanese prime minister Shinzō Abe and Chinese president Xi Jinping. In September 2019, Mar-a-Lago became the primary residence for Donald and Melania Trump, who previously held primary residence in New York City.

Everyone says they miss the 80’s and 90’s, I’ll tell you being 42, I love the way we’re living today and all I have to say is keep it coming the long road we’ve come and to think what will be next. I remember 1993, 2003, 2013, and here we are now. I bet he as in Donald Trump to be there then to just having his mugshot taken. To tell people if he wins in 2024 he’s nominating an African American vice president. Again we are living in great times, we have just as good entertainment, technology, clothing today as we did yesterday.

Maria Shriver's translation was incorrect because Mar-a-Lago means Sea to Lake, not "sea to ocean" as she stated. The "sea" is the Atlantic Ocean on the property's eastern boundary and the "lake" is Lake Worth (not a true lake but actually part of Florida's intercoastal waterway) on the west side of the estate. Regardless, Ms. Shriver performed gracefully during this interview with a man who elevated the ability to utter an untruth at the level of a master. Note Mr. Trump's apparent lack of deception when he informed Maria that he intended to maintain the property as a private home. Trump, dear reader, is the very definition of a professional Flim-Flam Man.
