I am so glad I found your video. I bought about a month ago a 1985 Ford RV Yellowstone E350 460 motor. I knew when I bought it that the mice had gotten in the wiring harness on the motor and when I found out what it was going to cost to have it towed I told my ex that the guy could keep my $200 because I didn't have $1500 to $2000 to have it towed. I told the guy I only had $600 to my name then he was like the guy that towed it here would probably tow it. And guess how much he said he would charge, yeah $600. I still didn't want to get it because I was planning on using the $600 to buy the stuff it needed to get it running. But my ex kept telling me to get it, it was to nice to not get. I will say it is a very nice RV on the inside and out side. He just kept saying it over and over and said he would get it running if he would get to borrow it once in a while to go visit his friend in Southern Ohio and so I said if you get it running then you have a deal. Well it's been a good month later and it will not start. It won't crank, it won't do nothing. I bought both batteries, one regular battery for the cab and a deep cell for the rv part. A new starter, new fuel pump, new ignition switch and I believe tumbler. When he would touch the solenoid it would turn over but he changed the solenoid to a different one and it spark like crazy so I would assume that one is junk. To be honest I don't think he knows what he is doing anymore. He use to know all of this stuff but now I believe he is getting Alzheimer's. He gets mad when I say it but I believe it is true. He is 64yrs old and his dad and his dads brothers and sisters have had it a d passed away with it. But anyhow back to the camper. What do you think it could be as to why there is nothing when you turn the key? And when I say nothing it's nothing. Weird thing is the radio will play even if it is turned off and you have the key out of it and disconnect the battery in the van. The lights on the rv it's self like the cab lights on top, side lights rear light all work but you cant shut them off and I don't have a clue as to why that is like that. I did ask if he checked the neutral safety switch because I watched some videos that said that when you have no cranking or power when you turn the key, like if you didn't have a battery in it like that kind of dead. It might even be the solenoid and I might have to get 2 of them because it has 2 on it. Also I probably will have to buy the box that you put on yours. I don't even know if the box that was on mine was even good or not because he took it off and put on on it from the wiring harness I paid $100 for that didn't even go to my rv and sometimes I wonder if he is doing this ignorant stuff on purpose. I know that sounds mean but I'm just being honest. I was also wondering if you could send me a picture and a video of your wiring harness and your fuse box and what ever else you might think that might help me and help get this thing running. I would appreciate it more then you know. Heck if I had a way to give you my phone number so you could explain things to my ex that would be wonderful. I'm just in so much money and it just keeps costing more and more and more. The rv cost me $1850 which wasn't bad but the $600 fee to have it towed hurt my pocket. Then I believe the guy took the battery that he told us he just bought and I believe he took of the starter and he took the big black heavy cord that went with the camper. I can't say it for a 100% but when we get it to my ex's the battery is completely dead and won't take a charge and was tested and was junk along with the marine battery. Then the starter was only being held on by one bolt and it was so bad it wouldn't even move to try and turn to start it So I say the guy had to take all of that back off of it and to me that is wrong in so many ways. But so far every thing in the rv works, all the lights, the converter, water pump, the AC/ heat works. I guess it is one of the ones that has a heat pump on it so you don't have to use the furnace until it gets really cold. The microwave works. The only thing I don't know if it works is the fridge, stove/oven or hot water tank because I don't know anything about propane and I'm scared to turn it on. I would rather someone do it that knows what they are doing. Same with the furnace. I know the fridge should work with it plugged in but the deep cell marine battery keeps getting sucked down to dead and I don't know why it is doing that either. I Just feel so defeated that it isn't even funny. I pray I hear back from you and I pray you will be able to help me and get this thing running. It would be a blessing in so many ways. I'm sorry to hear about the issues I will make a special video about diagnosing the rv more the best I can but Im not a major mechanic I've learned this stuff all on my own but the first thing i would look at is the wires that go from the battery to the starter they could be old and shorting out or corroded Also make sure the battery has a good charge and the cables are snug if this is not it then check these things If the key turns on the indicator lights and you try to crank and nothing happens check these things 1. Check fuses 2. Change starter solenoid ( sometimes a new one can be bad been their b4) 3 . Check starter wires see if their snug 4 . Remove starter and find a place that rebuild starters to test it or see if a local part store can test the starter

I'm sorry for your loss.. My uncle Scott was the only person I cared about really and was the one who taught me how to do life and gave me first car , taught how to fix it and in 2019 he got stage 4 cancer in his lungs and passed within a few months. I miss him a lot and especially right now. I'm having an issue with my fuel I guess by the looks of it and I need him now. It hurts to think I don't know what to do and if he was here it would be fixed with a laugh I'm sure. I'll say I'm not laughing at tge moment thinking about him and I'm in my home .. my 78 Ford rv with a 351w that I just changed the fuel pump and I see after a few weeks of it running fine it won't start.. just cranked ..but there's a leak at the fitting that leaves the pump that goes to the fuel filter then one to the carb .. I have to dug into it in the morning.. alone .. 😔

Ignition control module. Located on the distributer side. Fords from 80 to 90 put out a bunch of these that eat these modules for breakfast . My module was much smaller then this one in the video. Replace with a genuine ford part. Auto stores sell knock offs that dont last, always use heat sink greese. Mine is fuel injected 302 engine. When these go out they will act like a bad fuel pump or give you stalling problems. Sometimes you can get running again after the motor cools for an hour. Heat is the modules enemy. Other times it fails completely. No spark from a sparkplug is a really good indicator it's the module. But don't forget the fuel pump. It behaves just like a bad ignition control module. If you got spark then it's likely a bad pump. A bad fuel pump relay located passenger side up behind the ecm . Small square plastic box with several wires to it. Easy fix. A click from it doesn't always mean it's good. Check with another relay.

Hey I appreciate the video I have a 1983 Ford E350 Jamboree so thank you man even though I don't have the issue of it not starting it kind of does take a while for it to fire up right away so maybe that could be going out on mine

A simple tune up could help if you haven't done that in awhile also a dirty carburetor can cause the same issue with the choke sticking on the carburetor keeping the vehicle from not starting right away ... Mine when she sits for a Long while has to be hit a shot of starting fluid just to.get her to fire up to get the fuel up to the carburetor so it can run but that's a rare occasion

7.5L I have the 1989 version which has fuel injection and the computer is under the dash by the gas pedal!

That's a bad starter Sylnoid Or a possible wire grounding out somewhere.

Having similar problems as described in your video with my 87. Crank but no start. Am getting fuel to the engine. Checked the switch in the passenger compartment and it has not been tripped. Checked the fuse box under driver side. Checked the ignition control module ( shown in the video, was really hopeful that was the problem) and that was OK as well. Put a new (to me) coil on it, unsure if it really did anything. Put starter fluid in and tried starting again, crank and crank then started. Ran for 5 minutes, then died. Started back up immediately, ran for a bit then died again. Was trying to get packed up so figured would wait to try starting again and now back to square one with crank and no start. Have bought new distributor cap and rotor, plus some other part I forget the name of that is supposed to go in there. Reluctant to try those out as I am stuck in the boonies and cannot return the parts if I attempt to use them and none of those fix the issue. Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Have you tried changing the fuel filter also the carburetor could be dirty or the automatic choke could be sticking on the carburetor it sounds like a fuel issue of some sort because it will fire with starting fluid Then die Or the vehicle could be to low on gas in the fuel tank for it to get up to the pump Also a bad carb could cause this problem Also a fuel pump issue

Paul! This is honestly the video that just might get our motorhome running. My wife and I got gifted a 1988 Tioga Arrow Ford E350 7.5L and I had a question because like you had, we currently are getting crank but no start. Is the item you're talking about in minute 12:45 the (ECU/ECM) the same one that I have located inside the passenger foot well? It looks very different but I have been told I should be looking into replacing it.

I have an 87 460 7.5 My ORielly's won't carry any of these parts anymore is there do you have any suggestion I need an in-tank fuel pump for my generator we are currently working on the fuel lines to get fuel going to the engine without having to have a gas tank in the cab

All you do is remove the bracket from the coil and remove the wire from the coil then the harness should slip right off

@@davidking4712 if it keeps choking out every time you press the accelerator? It's probably a carburetor issue. I would try to clean the carburetor real good with carb and choke cleaner. If there is an improvement, then that tells you, the Carburetor. needs to be really clean. Now, if the vehicle starts to Miss A lot, then that would be a sparking issue.

It could be or the carburetor could be gummed up

That's likely 175,000 miles. Ford off sets a digit for every 100k in the older 5 digit odometers.

You Need NEW glasses... it's Made in China!!! You need to change the secondary solenoid to the rv battery! I ended up having to replace it with one from a plow!! Nothing else worked! Put a new 110A alternator the Rocks!Important...make SURE the cap is Always on the propane tank!! The Kid at my local ACE hardware Screwed mine up! Must of Been some dirt or something in there because when he took fill off it WOULDN'T Relaese!!! Propane everywhere! Had the HAZMAT team there! You Dont want this to happen to you! Id advise having it inspected and clean and lubricate the little ball in there. There an ASME tank NOT a DOT! Good luck! Mines been a Bear since we brought her back from PA with Only 33,000 miles! Also make sure tires are new!! I had a blow out on I 81!! Happy trails!!❤

Check your wiring on the wires from the starter and also from the alternator and check your Starter wires and make sure everything is tight A lot of times a loose cable or even bad wires can cause this

It's most likely ur control module on the distributor... it controls the spark from the coil. I had the same problem... not ur computer...

The "Carburator did'nt like? an Electric Pump".(NOT).. * Any pump, electrical or mechanical as long as is 4PSI to 8PSI..will Do the job on a "Carburated" engine. ( your Engine is a 7.5Liter / 460cid ). For EFI engines the fuel pump should be 40PSI to 52PSI for your Fuel Injection to operate and a good fuel presure regulator on the "fuel Rack". Replaced the ignition MODULE? . My "rig" is a 1989 MARATHON, on a E350 / 7.5 liter 460 cid with E.F.I, 116,000 Odo miles. These "Rigs" are "Oxes"...I always wondered why they stopped Manufacturing these babies. It was No surprise when Ford dropped the 10cyl in 2021and came back with the New 7.3 / EFI / 350 HP

When the pump was electric the vehicle wouldn't fo over 40mph and cut out and she's got an regular 4 barrel carburetor

I have the same problem with my 85 ford shasta everyone says it's a fuel pump, the electric one on the axil, bit me not being a mechanic, and homeless without my rv, I have been asking for months, you and this video, are the first to make sense of any of this
