As the then TV owners were affluent classes as TV sets costed a lot of money, the commercials were also geared towards them with catchy English jingles.

@@IITianProudIndian Simmer down sir. What you meant was from a point of view of trends. Trends have certainly metamorphosed and evolved since then like now we have better hairstyles and more aesthetically pleasing silhouettes (not suggesting that trends back then were unsightly, its just more accessible these days. Even someone with a one person salary can manage to look fashionable) . But what I meant was from a standpoint of skin and hair quality. People in their early twenties are losing a lot of hair and also lets not leave hair thinning out. And don't get me started on the skin quality (also not suggesting that people back then didn't have bad skin). Forgive me for not specifying it. But I was unaware that one would read so much into it. Sorry you felt it was "NONSESE".

I don't know why people feel nostalgic about these old ads. They are highly priced products for the then struggling middle class projected by showing some unrelatable upper class family shoving English. Most of our dads were struggling to make both ends meet to buy a B/W portable TV where they show some rare to see British accented rich families vacationing

Historically, we have seen cultures and civilations develop near water bodies like rivers, coastal areas. we have a coast line extending from Present Pakistan to present Bangladesh covering the southern part of India. You must also be aware rivers originating from the Himalayas and flowing in the northern parts of the country making land fertile.Punjab as we know is the bread basket of India. What I meant is we were not united when the britishers arrived and cannot blame..
