What were you using for a drill to drill out the tie rod ball joint tapers - looking at a cordless drill that will do 1/8-1/4" steel.

Dewalt drill with a reamer bit. Works really well

Why not high steer?

Personal preference. Easier to mount ram also the double shear spreading the load from the ram through the while knuckle and clearance
