It's crazy how far we've come! These are probably 8 or 9 turn mods and on this small track I would honestly say the speed is less than even a 21.5 blinky class! 1988 was probably around the time of 1400 SCR ni-cad cells--4 cell 4.8 v. Even though our 1S lipos are only 3.7v, they don't sag at all compared to old ni-cads. Thank goodness for 2.4 ghz! Turning on your radio in the pits back in the day could literally make somebody on the drivers stand lose control and crash! We take for granted not having to cut comms and groove brushes EVERY SINGLE RUN in the mod classes! Look at Mike Reedys lathe setup, he'll spend 12-14 hours a day cutting comms, shaping brushes and aligning stators for the duration if the event.
