アイレムより登場した「X-マルチプライ」は、2本の触手が伸びた自機を操作する、一風変わった横スクロールシューティングゲームである。触手は敵弾を防いだり、敵にダメージを与えることができるため、触手の使いこなしがポイントとなる。しかし、触手の存在以外に特に目新しいところもなく「R-TYPE」などに代表される秀作揃いのアイレムシューティングの中においては、やや影が薄い作品といえる。アイレムお得意の全2周エンド。
ストーリー:
西暦2249年、人類が植民したスタン星では、多くの入植者が次々と謎の死を遂げていた。科学者たちはこれを極小エイリアンの寄生によるショック死と断定、戦闘機X-002をミクロ化し、その体内へと送り込んだ･･････。

This game basicly has everything organic Levels, rad sound FX/ music, and glowing backgrounds. IREM can read your MIND!!!!!

R·TYPEIIのサントラに収録されていましたが実際は見た事がなくライナーノーツの解説に恐怖しました。イメージとサウンドがよくリンクしていて独特な雰囲気を醸し出す不思議な作品でした。

The music is sparse and very good it works well for the game. The sound FX are weird and psychedelic the game just gets everything right. Its hard to the point of tedious but that also fits the game too

is that boss roundabout ten minutes in fondling itself? It should really pay more attention to the task at hand and notice that its adversary has found a safe spot. The poor thing must be terribly desperate.

Acccording to Wikipedia the write up for this games plot goes as followed: "The game centers around an unusual alien invasion against a colony planet in the year 2249-the aliens themselves are microscopic creatures that invade, infect, and kill the colonists. Scientists have deployed the microscopic fighter X-002 into the body of the hapless womanly man whose body has been invaded by the alien queen." Bizarre.... i love this weird forgotten gem of a game.

yeah, sure is a "beautiful" woman they have on the title screen. Also, why did they have to imply that you are going inside the body of a woman? Such a weird thing to explicitly state.

@@nomuru2d I wonder why Irem never retconned X-Multiply to the main R-Type timeline since they are OBVIOUS micro Bydos attacking inside of humans of the many of space colonies that mankind dominates around Solar system. To me, the Cross the Rubicon explanation wasn't enough

Not to mention the Bydo are Human-made Weapons designed to fight against certain Alien Threats originally, as since the events of Image Flight Series, a prequel to R-Type Series where OF-01 Daedalus and OF-03 Garuda was created in the 21st Century.

Yep also ABADOX screwed the pooch with all the Metal levels that are later in the game. Its like a bait-and -switch, you think its Organic and then they change it.

This game is great and looks really good for the year it was released. However it gives the player the middle finger after you beat it. Once you beat it the boss reveals its still alive and makes you beat it again. Nothing wrong with that since most arcade games make you beat it again but on a higher difficulty. So after you beat it again the boss repeats the same message about being alive and the game ends. Nothing like a good'ol f-you for closure.

this is because Irem/Nazca/Granzella Inc employees, hate good/happy/rewarding endings, and this is not new, this was well shown with other Irem games, where us, players DIE during a escape, assignment completed, or basically, they will lure us to a different route where we discover more horrible stuff.

This game is gross, because it takes place inside of a woman and shows her womb!!! Maybe if they used a guy, I wouldn't find it so gross (the whole Fantastic Voyage scenario done to guys is okay; the rare few stuff I saw where it was done to girls were all creepy/gross.)
