This was a historic event. Michael at this time was the largest pop star on the planet. Eddie Murphy was the largest movie star on the planet. Arsenio was the first black late night talk show host.

No. Stop lying. Amazing performer, but not good-looking, not since Thriller. The audience loved his music, his videos, and Michael rarely gave interviews, he kept himself rare. That's why they're going crazy. Arsenio and Eddie knew him, they weren't star-struck.

I remember watching this show every night when I was a kid. I remember when Arsenio announced that he was going to have Eddie Murphy on his show, and my two sisters and I were so excited because we were huge fans of his (my older sister especially because she had a crush on him). I was laying in bed acting like I was asleep but really sneaking watching this episode. I would usually watch it with the TV's volume being as low as possible, but loud enough for me to hear it. That all changed when Michael came out. I absolutely lost it. I hollered. I screamed so loud, I thought I heard echoes throughout the house. I then realized that those echoes were the screams from my sisters and mother, who were all watching the same show in their personal rooms. After we discovered that we were all watching the same show, we all converged into my parents' room, and watched the rest of the episode there. Thank you, Arsenio, for making your show time our family time. We love you, and late night television hasn't been the same since you left. Thank you, Michael, for all the love you showed throughout your music and towards your blessings of others, as displayed here in this clip. Thanks, Eddie, for making this night an adventure for my family (and presumably for Michael, as well). Thanks for giving me the opportunity to speak my mind about this. #RIPMichaelJackson #TheGreatestOfAllTime

People are nuts about fame. They're just two human beings who happened to be the most popular in their fields at a certain time. What they do respectively doesn't even compliment one another. What would happen if James Brown and Richard Pryor were standing on a stage together? They'd just be STANDING ON A STAGE TOGETHER.

@@misterjackson7928 - Stop with the light skin BS! I'm a light skin man myself, and have always hated with how people in this crazy damn world obsess over skin color, it's one of the many problems that this world has. Michael Jackson was a good looking guy before the surgery or surgeries. He didn't need to do it, but he himself was obsessed with skin color, really White people. I know they said it was confirmed he had vitiligo, but he wanted to be White looking in a way imo, and he went beyond being light skin when at the end he had no skin pigmentation whatsoever with all the bleaching. That was crazy and just going overboard because he just didn't need to do it, he had a look at one time when he was perfect looking and didn't need to do anything else, but of course we all know he kept going to the cosmetic surgery well. That look he had in a poster I had of him as a kid where he had on a tan color jacket with blue jeans on with a guitar belt buckle was a great look, and he should have stopped right there.

I have always thought of Michael Jackson as a superstar. I am NOT so enamored of him as to be unobjective. But I am a fan of his. How can anyone who appreciates talent not be? As a young man I watched the child perform. I thrilled to Thriller. I danced to Billie Jean. I thought more of his Super Bowl appearance than the game. There are only a couple people in the same general talent pool as Michael Jackson. Of course he wasn't perfect. Nothing is. Yet, as I watch videos of him again and now with the perspective of age and some hard earned and small wisdom, I realize something I never quite understood before. God put a small bit of himself into Michael. Life never ends. Michael, wherever your spirit is moving in the infinite cosmos I know you think of us here on Earth still. Thanks.

except nobody viewed it like that back then. At least not where I was. These were simply 80's icons, ...because they were great. Today's world is all about race. The 80's and 90's was all about talent
@zabisworld6 жыл бұрын
Damn Michael was so big in those days and I'm not even an American.. Can't imagine how big he was in the US. 90s was so much more exciting than now...sometimes you miss the old days..by the way I'm 29 lol

Tyler Christie best show host Best comedian Best recording artist One stage....where was Jordan, Tupac, and Tyson that night?
@alaza616 жыл бұрын
+mentlinc Where was Tupac? This is 1988...Tupac was only 17 years old and not famous. Who cares where Mike Tyson was. He ain't exactly no Muhammad Ali anyway. And Michael Jordan had not even been in the league 5 years yet, and had no championships.
