😢 one day I will own one, that's one of Pontiac best model period. The M/C edition with the turbo 3.1 intercooled the motor it self is built proof.

So cool! I remember when these came out and how rare they were! 3.1 Chevy 60 deg V6 with a turbo. So weird and wonderful!!

Beautiful, beautiful car, sir! Just wanted to point out a couple things, though. While the seats were unique to the TGP in '89 & '90, they were available on other GP models from '91 - '93. Also, while they look very similar to them, those wheels are not the same as the ones found on the Trans Ams. The Trans Am ones have a much deeper lip to them with a different bolt pattern and offset due to the car being RWD. The prototype TGP had a lip almost identical to the TA, but the production versions ended up having more shallow lips. These wheels were also available on other GPs through '93. All that aside, it is phenomenal to see there are still some of these cars lingering out there in this kind of condition. Good luck with the sale, and I hope it goes to a worthy home!

Excellent info. I have seen similar seating in other GP's, but only in cloth. And yes, the wheel design mimicked the TA wheels, but of course the size/offset would be different. Thanks for watching & responding!

The same seats were also available earlier, 88-90. Cloth and leather both available including the front multi-adjustable RPO coded AQ9's. 89-90 TGP's with cloth are on the rarer side, available in Camel or Grey. The Grey cloth is the rarest of the two. Exterior body colors, Red and Black, Black being the more rare. From 91-93, Graphite quad bucket leather seats offered on the GTP's are super rare! What a beauty!

Awesome ride no doubt! I actually had a 1990 SE Grand Prix model in the same color,wheels & interior set-up with a rear trunk spoiler also. Man how I miss my Pontiac! This particular model & the Bonneville SSE model were one of Pontiacs best offering back then not counting the Trans am / Firebirds of course! I had the 3.4 ltr motor which had some preproduction issues which caused it to not be very reliable at times, but I never had any really serious issues thankfully!! I still have these seats & other interior bits for sale if anyone's interested! Seats front & rear,gearshift panel with compass/ info center,CD player & radio also included! Still in great condition for the age!!

The 1990 Grand Prix Turbo was ACTUALLY my first car I ever got. Living in Ontario you would think it was a piece of crap and wpuld be rusted out but it had been sprayed with under guard and oil sprayed yearly. Previous owner was meticulous about keeping records of everything. It had 1 original owner. The car dealer was selling it as is for $2800, this us going back about 11 years now, and it had over 300,000 kms on it. The dealer had no idea it was a McLaren Turbo or that it was special in anyway. Probably gave the man scrap value for it. They thought it was a simple 2 door Grand Prix coupe. The guy who owned it tore out the ABS brakes system and installed a different one. He did a couple other things to it. The bottom rad fan support rusted out so he had it hanging by chicken wire lol. If you sat idling the coolant would start spraying everywhere which was the only problem it had. It was unfortunate that my father took advantage of me and had me put in his name due to me owing money after college. Made up some BS about having the car repossessed and I didn't know what the laws were yet. So he used it as a tool to blackmail me every chance he had. One day I came home and he scrapped it without telling me. I loved that car. I would give anything to have one again if I had the money, even just a regular 2 door GT or SE coupe version. It was hard no to love that car.

Beautiful car! Those seat controls are also available on the "lesser" 88-90 GP SE coupes, the one year only 1990 Turbo STE sedans, 91-93 STE sedans, 91-93 GTP GP coupes, 88-93 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme International Series coupes and sedans. All RPO code AQ9.

Beautiful car! To bad they had brake issues. Would of loved to see those produced as long as the GTP's.

Brake issues can now be resolved with a different booster swap out I believe from the TA's or Camaro's. Not 100% sure about that brake issues aren't as complex to fix as when these cars were newer.

+11second69nickeynova Nick is correct, the CD player was not offered in the Turbo Grand Prix in 1989, only in 1990.
@jiggity76

Incorrect, they were offered in 1989, RPO code U1A. I have seen very few 89 cars with them, not sure if they are original but due to the very small amount of 89 cars I've seen with them, they must be. In the W-Body's, not just the GP, 89 was the first year availability for the CD player option. I agree with 1967 Chevelle LSX. Don't agree with how rudely he said it but he is correct. U1A RADIO, AM&FM STEREO, SEEK/SCAN, C.D. PLAYER, EQUILIZER, INCLUDES CLOCK CD PLAYER/EQLZR (U1A). I have a 93 GP STE sedan with this player and the same RPO code. Oldsmobile uses a RPO code of U1C for the same unit but with a different faceplate. I also have a 91 CS International Series coupe with factory CD player radio, RPO code U1C.

Greg Johnson no TGP came with a CD player in 89. It wasn’t an option until 90. Only options available for 89 were leather and sunroof.

LOVE YOUR CAR. My girlfriends parents had one of these. Also, my mom had a turbo grand am and my father had a turbo trans am back in the tail end of the 80s so I was very familiar with the Pontiac special offerings. All fantastic. Do you still have the car?

Thanks Spazzman. Yes, car is still tucked in my garage. I only drive it a couple times per year because of the super low miles, but really enjoy those short trips.

Actually, it's still tucked away in my garage. A sale in September fell through, and it became too late in the season to re-list, I felt.

The Fieros were pretty sharp looking, and unique for the time. Too bad that Pontiac always had to fight for funding from GM, right until their demise.

Ive always been curious about how cars like this would hold up now if put directly into everyday use. If i had 10k funny money laying around it would be a great experiment for a youtuber. Is a brand new old car capable of living its life as a daily driver as intended years past its used by date? Or is it just too dried up?? Hell id watch that show!!
