Hence desi... britannia, Pepsi/Cola etc had more Anglicised ads which they meant to target to the urban upper middle class in 90s era. The disposable income of an Indian middle class was still not meant to buy those products yet!

@@loading8502 today's equivalent to around ₹120 I'd say. But that's in pure inflation terns practically it could be much more. ₹ 10 was more than sufficient as pocket money till even late 1980,s or early 90,s for a school kid.

Main was it Pocket pita bread I guess it was exclusively backed for bigbite as tried finding all over but couldn't find any match. Rest was aloo tikki Tomato slice onion slice tomato ketchup. post that it was heated in oven and served HOT 🔥🔥🔥🔥.😋😋😋😋😋😋😋

BigBite's Wrapper was made of Foam Roll which was Unique at that Time, As a Kid we keep Vada or Samosa in that Wrapper and Eat it like BigBite. Innocence was Blissful.

I don't recollect seeing this Ad on Tv or seeing any of the outlets selling Big Bite. Did this brand last long in India. I lived in New Delhi in the 80s and 90s but never saw this there.

It didn't last long, probably 3 years or less. It was fairly expensive compared to most snack foods at the time, and I guess vegetarian folks were squeamish about buying from an outlet that sold both veg and non-veg versions that looked similar on the outside. It was incredibly tasty, a flavor that is utterly lacking in the McDonald's, Burger King and KFC products.

If I remember correct, Ice cream a scoop used to cost about Rs. 4 in 1990, the same is about Rs. 25 today. So Rs. 5 is not that expensive for a sandwich.

These ads in retrospect look so alienated, elitist and targeted for a select few . As an advertising graduate and living my childhood in the suburbs of Mumbai, these ads looked out of place from the ethos of middle.class where people were struggling to make a living . The ad doesnot even look aspirational. I'm sure this ad did not do anything for this brand
