Paul Page was a marvelous orator with doing these events. The intro he does here is a piece of vocal artwork. I don't know if we'll ever hear/see such a vocal talent again in motorsports.

Couldn't agree more. He always made any race he called sound like an event. It's like how I immediately think of Marv Albert with the NBA finals or Bob Costas with the World Series in those days; Paul Page together with the 500 is in the same tier. And he would give equal gravitas towards these old IROC races too.

I liked all the bodystyles in IROC, but if I had to pick one, the Dodge Daytona would be my favorite bodystyle in IROC, and to me, them, and the Dodge Avengers used in 1994 and 1995 were very underrated as far as bodystyles in IROC

Same that or the early '00s Bodies were 😍. Is it me or do the Daytona Favor the '90s Chevy Camaro? I'll find the Exact year I'm looking for but I think you get what I mean?

Winner in this race, also won the next day in the Winston 500, then came back in July to win the DieHard 500. Ran all three races at Talladega Superspeedway in 1990, won all three of them for a 1990 sweep.

Bring back the IROC series!!!! Love to see another F1 guy try Talledega. Martin Brundle did pretty good that day.

Those Dodge Daytonas should’ve ran in the Cup Series instead of IROC!

That bumper cam was revolutionary in 1990, and now we take it for granted.

It's kinda funny how, when they introduce the drivers, they show a clip of them crashing then one of them winning. XD

Reading comments that others have posted, just like with LeBron & Jordan the negativity comes from folks who weren't following NASCAR when Dale was at his peak. Yes he only won 1 race on a road course during his career but other than Jeff Gordon who else was a dominant road racer & won multiple NASCAR Cup Series titles? NASCAR only runs 2.5 road races a year (the .5 being the roval) & even though Dale only won one road race he was always strong at them finishing among the leaders numerous times & have we forgotten about his pole at Watkins Glen in 1996 when he was still recovering from broken bones suffered in the near fatal wreck at Talladega only a few weeks earlier. He was as good a stock car driver as any other champion, better than most shoulda won at least 9 Winston Cups...

Dale Earnhardt proves he is the best race car driver in the world in this fair and balanced race.
@iconr6racer7 жыл бұрын
he was the best drafter in the world, but I'm not sure he was the best driver.. He didn't win much on short tracks or road courses where i feel the driver has biggest influence.
@ragingbull1547 жыл бұрын
Cody Hackl He didn't win much on short tracks???? 63 wins not on Superspeedways. 9 wins at Bristol, 5 wins at North Wilkesboro, 6 wins at Martinsville, 5 wins at Richmond, 1 win at Sonoma, plus the toughest track on the series, Darlington, 9 more wins. and then the wins on 1 and 11/2 mile tracks. He won at Atlanta 9 times and Charlotte 5 just to name a couple. Check your facts next time. I started following Dale Earnhardt when I was 7 which was his Rookie year of 1979. I've been to well over 100 cup races since then and He's the greatest I've ever seen and the only one close in my opinion was David Pearson. Pearson won 105 times and didn't run full seasons every year.

Mike Coppedge well it is clear he did win a lot more than i realized at short tracks, i dont know what years he did because around 95 when i started following racing it seemed he was only big news at plate tracks. yes i recall him winning at bristol in 99 after dumping labonte and i would imaging he won quite a few short track races early on before i started watching in the same fashon. he certainly was not very impressive in road course.. earnhardt is a great driver, I just dont think many of his wins were too impressive in how he went about them. i recall him wrecking rusty at dega in 93 at the finish line, nearly killing rusty all because dale wanted to drive right through him for 5th or 6th place.. but that was dale..

Not hardly. Sure he's in a very elite group when it comes to Stock Car Superspeedway racing, but he struggled badly on Road Courses, and we never got to see how he could have performed in Open-Wheel cars.

Why did the series that year start at Michigan that year and not Daytona?
@vinewood82955 жыл бұрын
The IROC officials changed it up every year depending on the schedules of the drivers, you have to remember that these drivers are from different forms of motorsport and didn't always have time on the same weekends...

The car's weren't ready for Daytona so Talladega was the first race that year then Cleveland ...

Had Daytona started the 1990 season, the schedule would have been Daytona, Talladega, Cleveland Airport, and Michigan).

Honestly, I wish the IROC had more races. 6 race season, more than 12 drivers. Limit amount of NASCAR drivers in it.

This is what NASCAR needs to do. Get rid of the spotters and let the drivers drive by the seat of their pants only. That's what real race car drivers do. Being able to feel a car looking inside you or being beside is part of racing being able to feel if you're clear or not is also part of it. Now days, is the spotters driving with the drivers just turning the wheel and pressing the gas.
