1990 Toyota Cressida: A Gentleman's Drifter

Chris Hughes, a DirtFish instructor and Firefighter, wanted to go drifting with his sons. Needing a comfortable daily driver and track toy, the 1990 Toyota Cressida seemed to fit the bill perfectly.
It has been great watching this project take shape for Chris and I am excited to finally see him slide this drift limo around the track with his sons for a bit of tandem mayhem with the Hughes Family.

Finally a cressida video I enjoyed watching. My dad is into old school hot rodding as well. Though we couldn't afford a LS1. We're doing a 1jz vvti swap into a cressida instead.

Man I wish to do that one day with a cressida since they look so freaking good. As of now I'm currently in the process of doing a 2jzgte vvto swap in my mk3 supra. So maybe when I finish with that my next project will be a cressida.

Very Nice. I have a White Bone Stock 1990 Cressida, best car I've ever owned and driven.! it's getting a 1jz vvti but keeping the same sleeper look. I love this video can't wait to be doing the same. ofcorse not the V8 Rumble but that 1Jz Puurr an Suututu.! only problem is its staying auto cause don't have enough for a cd009 with an adapter plate with rest of clutch assembly stuff. So if you got any other extra parts I'll be more then greatful.

i've got one of these, stock 7m engine with retorqued head bolts. if you can get your hands on a w58 gearbox, do so. a manual swap is absolutely worth it

i had 1990 one, it is v6 engine, very powerful, automatic, window roof, I like it. never big issue , and when people hear that, they will keep a distance, no worry about car accident. haha

with an adapter maybe or a custom bellhousing but youd probably want to get a new transmission anyway cause i dont think a w57 or w58 would hold the ls power for long if at all.

@@sethwilliamr8118 a physically bigger, very complex and harder to modify 1UZ is for kids? 1UZ is a computer chip compared to a LSX which is a pegboard.

@@sethwilliamr8118 youre comparing a modestly tuned silky smooth 4.0 engine designed in the 80s by toyota for a luxury car to a modern tuned harsh pushrod. Daft innovations whos all about LSX swaps in his customers cars threw one in his pickup and did a quick tune using GM electronics and managed to get 3xxhp/tq at the wheels. Swap out head gaskets, boost and stand alone and you're looking at the V8 version of a 2JZ.
