It's so awesome to see old original systems still in service. I love the aesthetics of 80s and 90s systems. Especially Simplex

When I lived with uncle he looked after a middle school android the same size, there was rooms that had to be alarmed as 💻 was in them, sometimes I'd have to reset the boilers as they trip on none flame up. It had a large stagings Hall and three floors so unlocking everyday was a task in it self.

Simplex makes some of the most interesting yet robust equipment. I mean that panel has to have lasted 30 years or more and still works. As for the pulls, they’re not an original Simplex design or manufacture (they’re an obvious outsource) so I wouldn’t really put the blame on Simplex for the bad pulls. However, I feel like this particular install would’ve been 100x better without that model of pulls (I would’ve used 2099 T-Bar style pulls).

Nice thing that Simplex does by Notifier does not if a device is still in alarm or pull active the panel does not reset until pull reset or smoke cleared

I do enjoy your videos, I used to watch many fire alarm videos on KZfaq when I was younger. Sadly most of the people (myself included) no longer make fire alarm related videos. On the issue of how the conventional panel is able to detect multiple detectors on a single zone being set of without being reset, maybe the panel can detect the increase in current draw that each detector creates when it is set off. Just a educated guess, as I know many conventional systems use the current draw of a detector to determine an alarm state. Also ever accidentally set of a fire suppression system, I heard a story where some random person set of a inert gas fire suppression system in a server room at my work place due to the panel was beeping outside and they pressed the manual release button on the fire suppression panel outside the room. Was before my time.

Those are some very unusual pulls for Simplex; definitely of Amseco manufacture as Mircom and Notifier had those exact same pulls made for them back in the day save for that very very unique contact switch inside. As you said definitely wouldn’t have too many kids pulling these with all that resistance on the handle. The bells however sound super strong and healthy.

We're getting ready to replace a bunch of 270s (probably with Notifier 12Ls)... If I had a nickel for every time I've flipped off a 270, I could have retired 10 years ago... Thank God I've never had to deal with those old tight ones, I'd likely have just burned the damn building down instead...

On simplex conventional panels the zones get power dropped after every alarm to reset the smokes on walk test. That’s why multiple could go into alarm. I believe it can also read the voltage load to allow multiple detectors to alarm at once
