1985 was the last of the International gasoline engines. Today, they offer a General Motors big block, 8.8L engine that was modified by PSI. I'm hearing good and bad about it. I know Freightliner was using a slightly smaller engine from the same maunfacturer. It was so bad that I have yet to find anyone who wanted another one. Now, Thomas is pushing their new DD5 engine as the greatest thing since sliced pizza. 45,000 mile oil changes makes them lower in cost of operation. I will never believe a diesel engine can operate the life of a bus as cheaply as a good gasoline engine. The cost of repairing that Mercedes diesel, like when a turbo goes out or it gets some bad biodiesel and ruins the injectors, will be outrageous. I like gasoline engines for their quietness, also.
