The Dolphins have been reduced to being happy with at least .500. Playoffs are almost always out of the question. Winning seasons are few and far between. :( Stephen Ross has not delivered success even though he became majority owner of the team in 09. From 09-17, just one playoff appearance, a road blow out loss to Pittsburgh.
@MGAF6886 жыл бұрын
8 out of 9 seasons with Ross in majority control have yielded .500 or worse and just once with a record above .500. 10-6, 8-8, 8-8, 7-9, 7-9, 7-9, 6-10, 6-10, 6-10 = 65-79 .451 (basically 7-9 average for 9 seasons). I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel with Tannehill missing a year and trying to come back. That doesn't bode well for a successful 2018. I hope Miami takes serious consideration into bringing a Keenum or other experienced QB into the mix.

Bills fan, but this Dolphin team was stacked. Miami owned the Bills in the 70's and early 80s', like New England would in 2000-2020. But Marino and Shula (RIP) just could not get past Kelly and Levy. Tip of the hat to those Dolphins teams, may our rivalry be renewed from 2020 onward. Most Bills fans consider the Dolphins to be our natural rival.

@comfortat Жыл бұрын
The Bills were a much better team. The defense kept the Dolphins in the game in the first half. It's hard to keep up that intensity when your team coughs the ball up so many times. It was only Marino's brilliance that kept Miami competitive. Put an average/good QB on those teams, and you would have gone 6-10 for a decade. Shula just couldn't add enough players around Dan to make them a great team. Remember, Griese had a HOF offensive line, 3 great backs and Paul Warfield, plus a terrific defense. Those were GREAT teams with a very good QB. These Dolphins were an average team with one of the greatest QB's of all time.

Miami had their run against Buffalo, the definition of OWNED was Miami's 20-0 record against Buffalo in the 1970's, 20 straight W's for the 'Fins during the decade, Buffalo won the second meeting in 1969, 28-3 in Buffalo and they wouldn't beat Miami again until Week 1 of the 1980 season, 1 17-7 in Buffalo.

In the whole Marino era the Dolphins could never run consistently nor could they stop the other team running the ball.
@AsTwoRoachesFuckedАй бұрын
I’m a Buffalo Bills fan. However, big Dan Marino fan. From what I saw, the Dolphins kept Tom Olivadotti for about decade. Don Shula didn’t change. Then they couldn’t even run the ball pre Dan Marino getting there. The Dolphins had 5-6 seasons of no 1K rushers pre Marino. Their WRs weren’t as good as advertised. JMO. Dan Marino made Mark Duper and Mark Clayton. Jim Kelly had three HOF players on offense at one time in Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed and James Lofton. Imagine Marino with all that talent around him. Then Marino’s defenses were good at times, but never much when it mattered most. If Marino was on the 90s Bills, they’d own a few Super Bowl championships.

@@smfalconsnipers124 I'd say that's a somewhat fair assessment of 'today's' fan but like most fanbases it's a "what have you done for me lately" type of fandom. I love all my Miami sports teams, especially the Fins and Canes but I"m a bigger Fin fan than anything else. Growing up, there were lots of SF/DAL fans growing up but unsurprisingly, they were Canes fans...and of course they will be because of their championship success. Today's kids have grown up watching the "Brady Era" AFC East in which we've been below average, so naturally--unless parents have pressed the fandom, they lose interest or place them lower than the Canes and Heat. There are bandwagon fans everywhere. As a kid, I knew 0 Patriot fans. Today, that number is exponentially higher.
