IT REALLY IS A SHAME THIS Old 1992 FORD L9000 IS SO RUSTY. IT RUNS AND DRIVES EXTREMELY WELL. SO WELL THAT I AM WILLING TO REMOVE THE ENGINE AND TRANS TO BE SWAPPED INTO ANOTHER CHASSIS AND BODY. TODAY I JUST NEED TO GET IT ABLE TO BUILD AND HOLD AIR PRESSURE SO THAT I CAN TAKE IT TO THE SHOP AND LOOK IT OVER REALLY GOOD. I NEED TO MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHAT I AM GOING TO DO. HOPE YOU ENJOY!

A company i worked at as the yard and equipment manager had a 89 ford with a n 14 in it and it was a good old truck. I used it to pick up local loads with over brand new long hood and anteater petes. It was easier to make turns with and it pulled as hard or harder than the petes did. It would outrun all the new petes but rhe ones that were out of warranty and were turned up would run circles around the old ford

Put a lot of miles on a 1985 model when I was logging. It had a 400 Cummins and a 13 speed. It was black with aluminum wheels and tanks. Had 44,000 lb rears and a Hendrickson suspension. Sure would tote a load. Boss bought it brand new and the driver got one too many DWI tickets and he put him in the woods so I got the new truck. Boy was he mad! It had about 6000 miles on it. Drove it for two years.

I drove a 1995 L8000 tandem reefer with a Cummins. She didn't have the turbo whistle like yours does, but she ran good. Has the fuel tank on the passenger side, which I hated to pieces, and the reefer took fuel from the same tank, which was small. I miss driving it though.

The tank is much smaller, this has its advantage because it fills up to the operating pressure much faster, but also when you brake a lot, you may run out of air.

@@j.c.smithprojects You can always add a second tank, or increase the capacity of the compressor if there is a problem with the air requirement.
@j.c.smithprojects

truck is only used off road. so it isnt an issue. i have upgraded tank capacity on older trucks on occasion. realizing the speed limit was 50 when some of these were built and it is 70 here now. having more air sure isnt a bad thing.
