I put this iteration behind the Dennis led group. Both of which are eclipsed, in my opinion, by the classic Ruffin-led lineup of Eddie, Paul, Melvin, and Otis. They did a good job of replacing the original greats. But as it always happens in music, and particularly in this case, at some point the composition takes on a life of its own, and is no longer the Temptations, as we knew them, but transitions into an Oldies act covering the Temps. They passed that point with Woodson's departure. 👑🎸🎵

I feel almost blasphemous for saying this, but I think that Ollie might be my second favorite lead singer for the Temptations. I might have to put him above both Dennis and Paul, although I love them both. David Ruffin was on another level though. He had a "realness" that just can't be equaled. Seems like everybody else was "performing" except David Ruffin. But as good as it was, the Temps music with Ollie unfortunately wasn't nearly as iconic, but Ollie was absolutely incredible.

Burnell Roques agreed Ollie is my second favorite for lead. David Ruffin couldn’t be out sung by any of the leads after him. They were all doing imitations of David
