Oh, it's not my collection. It's several collections given to me by people who've seen the channel and like its ethos of saving this old footage and recordings before it decays beyond the point of no return on old VHS tapes.

That's why I'm quite disappointed with WRC live stage coverages, too much talking, less action..

You raise a good point; with all the modern technology available, the coverage we get is quite staid, and generic. They could do so much better!!

@@ArnoldTriyudho Why they insist on interviewing every single driver at the end of the stage is beyond me. There are cars on the stage but instead of seeing them we are watching some generic "how did that go" questions to drivers who just want to catch their breath, debrief and have a sip of water.

No. I don't believe there were nightly reports in 1990. And the kind people who have given me collections for conversion either didn't record 1991 or, if they did, the quality has deteriorated too much for it to be converted.

This is more related to the rules and regulations than technology available. Even before this era there was a time when cars were faster.

@@JuhaMR By 1993 the Group A cars were faster overall on stages than GrB.... So this was as fast as they had ever been.

These cars are not slow at all, you have to consider how slippery it is, freezing and wet.

Cheated in 1995 only after rule changes

I think it was 1995 rally Portugal where it was introduced. Kankunnen in particular was complaining about a lack of straight line speed in Monte and Sweden only for it to be suddenly fixed in Portugal (I should say all Kankunnen, Grist, Auriol etc knew was it was an engine "upgrade" they didn't know it was a blatant cheat) . But it didn't become obvious they were taking the piss until Australia because they got greedy and ran the cheat turbo in effectively a 200m drag race and pulled about 2 car lengths over the Subarus. And in the rules of group A there was simply no way that was possible. Then of course in Catalunya an FIA official yoinked a turbo and they got found out.
