米国「20世紀フォックス社」の人気映画「エイリアン」と「プレデター」の2作品をミックスした格闘アクションゲーム。ストーリーはアメリカのダークホースコミック社のコミック版をベースにしたカプコンオリジナルとなっている。内容は異星の戦闘種族「プレデター」と軍の戦闘サイボーグの2人が、大発生したエイリアンに立ち向かうというもの。登場するキャラクターごとに能力は異なるが、ゲームをやりこんでいくとそれぞれに独自の攻略テクニックが見つかり、そこが多くのプレイヤーを惹きつけることとなった。攻撃は地上でのコンボ攻撃に加えて、ジャンプ攻撃での追い打ち攻撃が可能。さらに、銃火器も標準装備されている。敵エイリアンが一度に大量に登場する為からか、難易度が高いように思われる作品だが、横スクロールアクションゲームとしての完成度は非常に高く名作として語られることが多い。
ストーリー:
エイリアンの大発生。かつてない恐怖が、独立海上都市「サン･ドラド」に降りたった。軍の戦力として現地に向かったリンとシェーファーの2人は、そこで別の生物と遭遇する。 ･･･プレデター。今や人類の存亡は、この異形の戦士の行動ひとつに委ねられている。

Can mean all forms of animation by a technical sense; but fans have heavily dubbed Japanese animation the term in which is most commonly used for 'anime'. As such Haggar is from a game developed in Japan, and he is animated. Thus an anime character.

Everyone plays Predator Hunter cause of his crazy damage but Lt. K was my main pick any time I played this game. Awesome air throws and the charge shot and sword moves made her so mush fun to play.

I read somewhere licensing issue is the hardest thing esp because Capcom’s rights to the series ended. Not sure how these things work but this would be a great arcade port to modern consoles

I'm actually certain she was originally a strong contender. But the aliens/predator rights were a mess to sort out. Having her without any alien/predator appearance (like with jill/Chris and zombies or captain commando and the rest of his squad) was deemed to make her appearance less interesting so she was dropped.

Fun Fact: Maki Genryusai's roster slot in Capcom vs. SNK 2 was originally planned for Linn Kurosawa from this game, but due to legal issues was switched to Maki. There were also plans to give Maki an identical moveset to Linn as a way to include her regardless, but this would also end up being scrapped as well.

I played this game ONCE. I used a predator but when I died, amid the fumbling of quarters to continue, I respawned as this chick. Honestly, her gun made it a hell of a lot easier for the mobs and I at least got to the vehicle section in the first 10 minutes.

Tell me about it. Me and my job corps buddies had access to the 4 player one. They called Dutch and the Predators, laughed at me for taking the woman that doesn't even use her sword as much as the others. After the initial Alien Queen, they realized they spent twice the quarters and I was doing all this cool shit they didn't have access to. Was a blast.

Min 9:28 Many scenarios of the game were taken from the movie Aliens (1986) In this stage the background repeats constantly while the vehicle is fixed on the screen

Things I learned from this game, Alien bites can be cured by eating Pizza. Also shame Capcom decided to withheld this from the Beat Em Up Bundle, but I guess the licensing was too annoying to deal with.

I'll never forget this arcade game. It was in a theater at the nearby mall. Got like the 2nd highest score in the game if not the highest that day and got a free movie ticket. Ahh... the good days. Now I made myself feel sad. ;-;

Linn is far and away the best character in this game. Cool tip, you can cancel her slide kick into her sword slice dash attack and cancel that into her fireball.

That would be pretty amazing. Incredibly time-inefficient though unless they make Kurosawa the canon protagonist with guest appearances from the other three characters throughout the game. Perhaps as potential unlockables, but even that's asking a lot.

Man, I have had the pleasure of playing this game only once with the hunter predator and had to abandon my quarter 20 min in because the movie was starting. The hunter can pin opponents to a wall and hold them there until their deaths. As long as you throw your finisher in the opposite direction.

It was not published for console due to the high price of the license since the characters except Kurosawa, are not from Capcom like the scenarios, they are the property of the original producer 20th Century Fox

With Disney owning Fox and their previous work history with Capcom we might get a remaster of this.
