A lot was said in 2004 about how Greg Anderson’s domination of Pro Stock forced many of his counterparts to burn the midnight oil to try to reduce his performance advantage. Kenny Bernstein and team had the same effect against opposing Top Fuel crews a decade before that after a stunning 314.46-mph clocking at the 1994 season closer. Entering the event, the Top Fuel national speed record was 308.95, and Bernstein obliterated that with a blast of 311.85 mph. Prior to the final, the question was whether Bernstein could back up that number - he answered with the 314.46 that was almost too swift to be backed up by the 311.

Kenny is such a class act. He had one of the all time best tuners in Dale Armstrong. I saw Kenny's second 300 mph pass at the '92 US Nationals - 4.86 @ 301.20 in qualifying. Jaws just dropped everywhere.

The only way they would go back to quarter mile nitro racing would be to slow them down. Blower, fuel system, cubic inch restrictions, etc. would create so many new rule changes.

I was there. Awesome. Miss the full 1/4 mile races so much. Doug Herbert was the 2nd guy to run 300 at Pomona in ‘93.

Thinking being impressed with 306 MPH, then the Bernstein team shocks them with 311 MPH and even quicker in the Final, Kenny's reaction was Priceless! I think it was Cory Mac and Doug Herbert who was the next two Top Fuel Drivers to run 300 MPH.

Lifelong NHRA fanatic, but I haven't watched hardly any since they went to 1000ft. It's a shame nhra didn't plan ahead to update the shut down area. This video is when this updating should of started, now it's just the team with the most money wins. Just a big money pit,as Shirley says. I miss tha old days.

one thing nice about 1,000 ft. track is there is so much less oil downs. and now they are going 335 mph.

I was there that wknd on Sat and Sun. Incredible race! I still fly down for the Winters and Finals....just don't imbibe in the good times, like I use to.
