Given the fact that Mavericks already had SF Jamal Mashburn and SG Jim Jackson. Drafting PG Jason Kidd would have been the right pick even if they would have had the number one overall. If the Mavericks would have picked Grant Hill they sold have had to trade Mashburn or Jim Jackson. Both were high picks in prior years.

Heavy Gratitude Ps Jason Kidd is the best high school player I saw live with my own eyes. He was a 6 '4 Magic and my favorite player is Magic. And I think J Kidd is one of the Top 5 point guards in NBA history. His court vision and passing is amazing. I'm glad he won that ring with The Mavs.

Me, too. When he was traded mid-season, back to Dallas, I wasn’t all that enthused about it, but he was such a big part of that title run in 2011. So, when I look back on it, now, I think it’s a thing of beauty.

Damn i love watcing Grant Hill play, smooth at that size with great handle and a fierce attach to the basket approach. Reminds me sometimes of a taller version of the late great Kobe Bryant the way Grant used to just glide around the court

Jason Kidd was the right PG for Dick Motta but he was not the right PG for future coach Jim Cleamons. Luckily they were able to get Michael Finley and others from the Suns for Kidd in 1997.

Grant Hill. Didn't outplay Big Dog, Duke had more talent ... Grant Hill was 11 points 7 rbds... Big Dog was 13 points 13 rbds. In college Big Dog had the better offensive game and was a better rebounder plus a stronger player. Grant Hill scored more ppg in the nba cuz he didn't have Ray Allen like Big Dog had.

Robinson was an absolute beast in college. Best pure scorer anyone had seen in awhile. And he’s no JKidd, but Big Dog didn’t have a half bad career. Not a bad pick at all. And they had former first round pick Eric Murdock coming off of a career season at PG.

Those guys had trouble even being rotation palyers and were all high picks. Robinson was an All Star and did better than a lot of number 1 picks. If you wanted to list off the top 50 biggest busts in NBA history he wouldn't even make the list
