It was pretty bad that they stole half of Nebraska's national title that year. Nebraska was truly the best team of the 1990's. And overall, the best team of the last half of the 20th century. Much better than Alabama has ever been.

Florida St. & Nebraska played some of the best games of that decade. They have bounced back this year a bit. I had so much respect for Bobby Bowden & the way they treated him at the end made me less of a fan. You're right though, some of the great programs need to get on track. Nebraska has been down way to long New Coach so we'll see. Frost sure wasn't what we had hoped. Our interim Mickey Joeseph got arrested for domestic abuse so he's gone too. The Conference championships showed the system is still flawed . They need to hurry up & get an elimination bracket in place like every other sport in the world. Not sure who Florida St. has in bowl game but good luck.

I was at this game. As a huge FSU diehard I had nothing but respect for Nebraska. They played a great game. Trev Alberts harassed CW all night. A little trivia: This is the last National Championship game where both teams were wearing Russell Athletic gear. It was about this time that teams began to contract with apparel companies such as Nike, Adidas, Starter, Reebok, and later on, Under Armor. An unliked opinion by me: Eric Crouch was the best QB to ever play for Nebraska, on a team that had next to no talent compared to Frazier's teams. Nebraska 1996 reloaded, won the title in 1997. Crouch played for a title in 2001, what happened to Nebraska after that? Crouch is not given the respect he deserves. It is possible that Frazier ran the triple option better, but was he better than Crouch, or did Frazier simply benefit from having a MUCH better coach who didn't turn his QB into the one man workhorse that Solich did to Crouch? Think I'm crazy? What if Crouch was on 1994/5 Nebraska, and Frazier were on 2001 Nebraska? We will never know... but I stand by my opinion.

I was 11 years old during this game and I remember my Dad going ballistic watching it due to the horrible calls by the refs going against Nebraska. We're Pitt fans but always enjoyed Nebraska's option offense, and hated to see refs decide a game between 2 very good teams. I imagine this loss doesn't sting as bad for Nebraska fans though since their team went on to become *the dynasty of the 90's* and basically overshadowed FSU. Their 95 team is one of the best ever in college football.

He never touched him he did make the jester out of frustration but never made contact. In the end Nebraska had the last play to execute and failed. To this day it just eats at me like it did in 1994.

Notre Dame gave away the championship by letting down and losing to Boston College after soundly defeating this Florida State that looked unbeatable and was having their best ever year. Before that loss, Notre Dame (#1) fans were screaming that they shouldn't have to play Florida State (#2) in a Bowl game after beating them. Nebraska was a massive underdog in this game. I think the line opened at something like 21 points but ended up around 17 to 18 points. The one common opponent was Kansas, Nebraska scraped by with a 1 point win while FSU beat them 42-0. Nebraska had two 1 point victories while FSU blew out everyone they played except Florida, whom they still beat handily and the loss at Notre Dame. The following year, Nebraska would finally beat a Florida team (Miami) in a Bowl game after getting beaten 6 straight times by FSU and Miami in the previous decade. Those losses resulted in 3 national championships even though Nebraska was not in the running for 1 of them (1991 against Miami). That win in the Jan 95' Orange bowl finally put Nebraska over the hump. The following year, Nebraska had the best and most dominant season, in my opinion, in college football history and beat another Florida team (Florida Gators) in dominant fashion. For the record, that wasn't the best college football team of all time, that honor probably belongs to 2000-2002 Miami, which had the most talent, even if there were other teams that performed better.
