GracieLou TDI i had the same problem people asked me is it a Scirocco, but never a Corolla tho. Btw, i was a proud owner of a Red Corrado G60 and a black SLC. I had the G60 for probably about 8 years and then i sell it to get the SLC. I had the SLC around 2001 and I had to sell it in 2008 before i moved back to BKK :(

I own one from 1993, 2.8 VR6, 181 hp, with only 40000 miles (it's about 64000 kilometers). Red original painting, with black leather seats. SLC version. It came from the United States of America in 1998.

drwisdom1 I brought this 11 years ago it started as a daily driver and over time I’ve spent money and time on improving it, there’s been times where I’ve thought about parting with it too doesn’t get a lot of use now a days but when I do get in it I’m the same I’m like why would I ever part with it they are such great cars 👍🏻 all the best Langers

@@LangersVW I got a 993 but sold it last year to funded for investmen. If all work out then I will be back and sort/rebuild a 993 C2S, and a Corrado. I still have a garage with full of 993s and Corrado parts but no car LOL😂

Glad you liked it Rob appreciate the feedback i don’t you can go wrong buying one they are great cars make sure the chains have been done as your looking at £1200-£1500 bill on top of the purchase price and the obvious like rust personally I’d go for a well specs well looked after example over a storm as you are paying a premium for a couple of red storm badges a colour coded grille some bbs wheels that featured on golf colour concept cars and the that fact that the only produced 500 all the best

@@LangersVW I'll have to look into that. I'm just hoping they aren't out of my price range by the time I can afford the insurance. I've been hooked on VR6's since my Dad got a Phaeton 3.2 24v around 10 years ago. That car pulled really nicely and always put a smile on my face. I can only imagine what the 2.9 feels like on the corrado, especially as it weighs less. If I were to get one I'd keep it original as possible as stock power is probably more than enough to keep me happy, and to keep insurance down of course

@@LangersVWIt's moon blue pearl with the new platinum leather interior. That was the only leather option with that color. Late 92 so it have a dizzy. No sunroof, all other options except electric seats. Is your BBS the RS301?

Yep, they look stunning. I got mine since 2006, so more or less a decade, just like you. Some bumps and bruises have accumulated, so I've had to have it repainted. Had it done late last year. I was blown away by how good the car looks now. Stock exhaust, sir =) Forgot to say, props to you for making this video/review. Proper job. I always love it when Corrados get exposure, hehe. Also, this is your only car / daily driver? If so, even more props, hehe.

zockerplay here in the UK they are rare cars we actually didn’t officially get the Synchro Golf VR6:/ and passat VR6 are also rare il love a Passat estate VR6 trouble is finding one with the Golf the did suffer with rot in places so watch out for that! if it was me I’d have a Highline or a later 1997 on Golf VR6 with the OBD2 set up one thing I like about the Golf VR6s is that uk models got Air con, Corrado’s didn’t :( but yeah great engines the VR6s hope you find one mate. Art Form hi mate I owned a G60 Golf Edition 1 at the same time as owning this, it was a really hard decision at the time, I needed the money had to many projects on the go and couldn’t keep them both unfortunately. The G60 is a great engine don’t let people put you off calling it a ticking time bomb as I had no issues with my G lader in 3 1/2 years took me a week to get used to left hand drive and the sound a G60 makes is lovely. Mine was modified 1.9 bottom end smaller pulley, Rallye intercooler big injectors, the list goes on I brought it off a friend who spent a small fortune on it, yes I would have another. The VR has a awesome sound track and is IMO more maintenance free IF the timing chains have been done chargers will need servicing and overhauling every so many years that a bill of £500 ish pound chains on a VR your looking at a bill of £1000-1500 but should see you another 100,000 miles. G60s Corrados are probably more rare even more rare in Golf forum. It’s all done to personal taste at the end of the day I didn’t like the cloth seat in rado G60s BUT some did come with leather and some Recaros I love the VR engine lots of theatre and suit the corrado well either I don’t think your go wrong owning. Langers VW Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply mate. That's all really useful info. Think I'm going to have test drive a few and see what I like and particularly in terms of the 60 what I can find. It certainly seems the price of either model is high for a good clean example now yet still more affordable than back in the 90's!! Feels like it may be time to live with at least one of these before they go the way of many and become prohibitively expensive to own under cult classic status. Some will say that process in already in full effect but it's not all about money and value. I'm a huge Aircooled VW fan and owner but there is also such a warm nostalgic feeling toward the late 80's to mid 90's cars. Great mk2 memories a bloody good 'connected' driving experience that somehow falls short in so many younger cars. Cheers!

ManicBeans hello mate glad you liked the video, mine when I brought it 11 years ago was a daily, and they are fine being run as good daily just bear in mind it is a 6 cylinder car it’s not going to be the most economical however if driving carefully on motorways van return 35+ MPG parts are starting to become hard to get hold of now and expensive. My best advise to you is what ever VR6 you buy make sure the timing chains are done or money off the car for them to be done it’s very labour intensive job and costs a lot if you can’t do it yourself. The humble mechanic has a great video on ho to do it, also when inspecting the car it’s worth wiping out spark plugs in cylinders 1&6 as these are the cylinders that first have issues due to the design of the engine, don’t worry to much about oil consumption as they can drive a bit of oil there is a limit for that before starting to worry I think it was like 1litre per 1000 miles that VW stated but it was a long time ago hope this helps. I try and get on and do some servicing and maintenance videos on the VR engine when I get chance. Mate you would be disappointed all the best Langers

Same with the G40 and the MK4R32 why did I do that?😭😭😵😵 now I got a Audi B8.5 S4 but the sound is awful compared to the VR6 engine’s.

So that has to be factored in when buying it sunroofs are a common issue second hand cassettes are becoming more expensive all depends on the overall condition and look of the car the history it’s a hard thing to pin point all I know is good ones are starting to climb in valve

ManicBeans cassettes are around £80-120 pound you can fit the glass moonroofs from a Passat they fit and are around the £50-80 mark. Watch humble mechanics video on timing chains and see if you feel comfortable doing them, Hey no worries 😉

Pat Zabron hi mate I take it that’s oil temp mine gets into the 100s a lot depends on how you drive it too, they do run hot. G11 G12 is the same anti freeze they are on G13+ now! Make sure you don’t put to much in as that could cause over heating so make sure it’s a 50/50 mix. What oil you running it with? 10/40 semi? Hope this help regards Langers

@@ronaldmoses48 you can put a 6 speed transmission in there was a company called Gemini that were doing them, yeah heated front seat where an option some leather came without! The side skirts were I believe after market but period few companies specialied in them like Sender etc 👍🏼
