1:19 Bruno Sacco's final design was the 2003 SL-Class (R230) actually. He is still my favorite Mercedes designer. The W140 is one of my favorite cars of all time.

Back in 98 on my 18th birthday, my dad gave me the keys to his S320 94 model, it was an awesome car, something way ahead of its time...i took care of that car like if it was my own baby, and it was...still my favorite mercedes...cheers.

Fantastic example and great presentation. If I was in the US I'd buy it in an instant. Clean examples like this are getting harder and harder to find as years pass by... I have a 93 600SEL and a 95 R129 SL320 and to this day they're my dailly drivers. Built like tanks. Mark my words, in a decade or so clean examples like this will considerably appreciate in value.

Best Benz ever. Just make sure to change the wiring harness. It got the "biodegradable" used 92-96. No other weakness known to this majestic car.

I use to have a Grey Market 1985 Mercedes 300D NON-TURBO manual windows, manual climate controls, NON AC DELCO aircon. A BEHR COPER RADIATOR. with 865,000 miles on it man what a car it was until it got caught in a flood. And what a car it still was after all the water got shot out the rear pipe I still drove that car every where UNTIL MOLD GREW IN IT FROM THE FLOOD and it was not even safe to drive We removed that motor and stuck in a 1983 Mercedes 240D and the legend still lives on.

Great video! I I had a S320 over here in the UK many years ago and it's definitely one of those cars I should of kept, getting so rare on the roads over here now, salt and damp weather always get to the electrics in the end unfortunately. Still a outstanding car and much missed......

Great detail explaination and shots of the double glazing windows. Nobody does that. This is the only generation that makes the windows flush with the pillars. I think that is a wonderful design Mercedes should adopt for their newer S-Class as such design allows the wind glides along the smooth sides instead of being caught by the protrusion of the pillars and hence produces wind noise at high speed.

I have a good friend that never understood soft-close doors. Even the Mercedes-Benz vehicles without the feature have a very direct, easy latch that require only the minutest of effort. Obviously Mercedes doors are very heavy, and he, figuring it would require considerable force to close and latch the door, once slammed the front passenger door so hard I thought my soul had left my body and flew to the ninth circle of hell. When I tell you I've never heard a more painful sound in a car, I mean it. It left a hairline crack in the wood's protective layer. Needless to say I was pretty irked, but friends are friends, you forgive them for silly things like that, even if that sound still shakes my core!

funny thing is i went car shopping about a week ago saw this 2008 porsche cayenne S.. fell in love with it. just as i was about to buy it i seen it!! awww man the car ive always wanted 1992 s500 SEL super clean then i said nawww i better not its a 92 what almost 30yrs old lol the sales guy said dude what are u crazy i tell you what this 92 s500 sel is way more reliable than this porsche cayenne could ever be, he goes if i were you i would buy this benz. AND I DID !!! glad i did

@@MrOmgfreak Thats wonderful to hear! I had a stunning 1995 S420 - exactly the same as the one in this video - bought from the estate of the original owner who passed away with only 45k miles! It was perfect! Stupidly, I sold it about 3 yrs ago and really regret it..... hoping to buy another one in the next year or so.... I have a new Chevy Tahoe which is a great car but kind of boring... LOL. I also have a 1994 SL320 R129 which is my daily driver - love that car!

The gauge that you don't seem to understand is an instantaneous fuel flow gauge, strangely converted to MPG. I can read it, do a little math in my head, watch the tachometer and squeeze 20 mpg out of the car just running around town if I drive it like a Tesla on regen and keep an eye on the rear view mirror so you don't piss too many people off. Anyone know where the car is in 2021?

I believe those two red and blue buttons are for cold/hot air without using the climate control.The red one uses the heat from the engine itself.

What, no, all the heat comes from the engine coolant, as the air conditionint system does not work as a heat pump. What the blue button does it even when the climate control is set to deliver hot air, it only delivers unheated air from the center vents (that was the way older mercedes were made by default), in the red button the center vents work as any other vents.

Those bottons are to choose what air do you want in the central vents, old mercedes throw only cool ambien air in the middle vents, an heat or ac on the side ones, these one lets you choose what air do you want

One of the engineers behind the development of the W140 actually stated that he thought the powered rear-view mirror was a little too much.

They eliminated the interior power rear-view in my '97 w140...it really was useful as designed b/c it retained a memory setting along w/the 1/2/3 memory seat settings...like if driver 2 got in and hit 2 the mirror changed for them too as to where they had it set.

This '95 is nice, but the 96-99 W140's are the best. All Mercedes from 1995 back to around 1992-ish had the biodegradable engine wire harness. Thanks to the German government & their recyclability requirements.

Ike N They were affected. The issue wasn't rectified until the 1996 model year. If you currently own/considering one, budget for a replacement.
