That picture actually came from Woody's 1995 box. The prototype on Buzz's box has stickers and no purple on his hands. His wings are also white instead of purple on Woody's box.

Actually they did use the Pixar Digital data. On the Blu-ray making of, John Lasseter says that the mold were from the digital data. Of course they had their limitations from the time.

2:07 I don’t think the prototype Buzz had a button on the back for his jetpack. This was only the case for the first Disney Store Buzz.

@@todayigrewup From what source do you know that? You can see on the 'battery instructions' picture that he has that white piece that can open his wings. So it is controlled from his body. I have the 1995 possible woody with the small ring they were discontinued because the wire in his arms and legs would snap and break so they are really rare so in 1996 they mad him floppy with a big ring

The button to release the wings from the jetpack is interesting because back in 2011/2010 I got a buzz and woody twin pack from hong kong disneyland and to release buzz's wings it had a button on the back to do so. I guess they kept that design for some toys.

Does anyone remember the Buzz action figure that released with Toy Story 2? It was the first one that had the head move and reacted to going horizontal like he was flying. His wrist communicator had buttons too. Also the commercial for it showed the Buzz from the video game in the movie speeding down out of space into the alien planet where Zurg was. I haven't seen any vids for it or seen this specific Buzz on eBay.

That’s super cool and yes it’s super rare. The posable one was discontinued for safety reasons and then yes they took off the spurs too and I have no idea why.

@@ClassicGamer9044 You have no idea how simple something like that can change manufacturing. When there are minuscule details, workers need to manually and carefully do it. If you removed those details, you could get 3 less detailed figures done in the time of 1 detailed figure.

Wow that’s cool. I believe that is a very early release that they later changed and “upgraded” not sure why but along the way toy companies make slight changes many times after a releasing a toy without telling the consumer.

Question, I’m totally perplexed. Rare Woody? I have a toy story woody doll from probably 2009/2010 that I got from a retailers \associate store that sells random supplier merchandise. It doesn’t have a voice box or opening for a voice box but has the hard boots the hard head and hands. It only has an Image of a pull string on the back of the vest. Do you know if this was ever intentionally made that way or is it a

Prototype Buzz’s hands are actually more accurate to the movie. In the prototype photos, Buzz has purple details on his hands. In the photo with prototype Woody, if you look closely, you can see he has purple & also green details on his hands which are more movie accurate. The final 1995 Buzz had plain hands which wasn’t movie accurate in the slightest.

I think Thinkway should've kept Woody's skinny body the same as it was in his prototype version because it resembles the one from the movies, I don't like the fat Woody they replaced it with. Buzz Lightyear should've kept the purple on his fingers, knuckles and his thumbs from his prototype version. I'm glad Thinkway put the Star Command and laser stickers on him and put the purple colors on the wings but his body proportions are still inaccurate to how he looked in the Toy Story movie (especially his waist which is way too narrow) and he's still missing the green squares on the back of his hands.

To be fair after 2009 Thinkway toys did AMAZING with their collection and signature line compared to 1995.

@@todayigrewup Yes they do, the current Thinkway Toy Story toys look a million times better than what they looked like in 1995. The Buzz Lightyear we have nowadays is the one we should've had back then with the red and green flashing lights on the tips of his wings, the moveable fingers and his wrist communicator and his helmet makes the _SWOOSHING_ sound effect when you open it just like it does in the movie. He also has the correct laser sound but it's too short, I wish it had a longer sound when you hold down the button. Even the new Woody dolls look better than the 1995 ones, but he still doesn't have his correct voice and his face still doesn't look like the one from the movie but everything else looks nearly identical other than that.

That’s why I think they destroy them so that doesn’t happen. That’s also illegal and you’d end up in jail so I don’t think someone is going to do that especially toy story fans we aren’t criminals lol

It’s not rude. Sometimes people don’t like things and that’s ok. Even the prototype head had some issues for movie accurate.
