Welcome to another Episode of Ross Reviews AU on this weeks Video @ClayWong & Myself Drive this 1996 Mint Replica HSV VS GTSR! with only 85 original cars ever made.. just the chance to drive a very well done replica had to be taken.. with a 5.0L V8 in this one over the Stroker 5.7 in the original.. it is a little lighter on power but modified nicely with a decent cam and tune.. the exhaust note is infectious. The hdts and walkinshaws were the special ones, pretty much everything hsv up until the e2 was just a body kit and suspension, when the vl walkie came out with that first fuel injection, that was something special

@@clifftonjohns7854 everything up untill the ve e2 series was nothin special, same engine as the base ss and a few suspention upgrades and a body kit and tune, it was only in the e2 when they adopted the ls3 over the base ss's ls2 that hsv started doing stuff cool, and everything from then on was good.

@@excalibur2038 well also had better interiors and were a bit more unique,really the hdt cars were the same,parts just switched up,the vz and vf hsv's especially are sic

Really enjoyed the review of the GTSR. It maybe a replica but it’s a very good replica. I love the sound of it. I bet you guys wished you could have opened it up on a quiet country road somewhere. It would be a really fun car to drive and a real head turner. Good to see Clay doing the review with you too. Thanks for the review.

I remember this from back in the day. Had this dork on the ad saying 'when you retire and have a few bob left over' or something to that effect. I remember '215' was a huge number back then lol.

I remember that ad 😆 you can still find it on KZfaq. Max output was 226kW and 507Nm on the blue printed version. Thats only 63nm and 78kw less than an LS3 in a VF SS series 2, plus weighing around 150kg lighter aswell as the GTSR's power being available way earlier/sooner in its rev range would actually make it still a pretty comparable track car to a modern LS3 V8 powered car like in the VF 😎

Hahaha I bet the gears are long coz it's still got an auto diff in it. Reps were commonly made from calais chassis Wicked cars regardless of "purity" or not the engine was a stroked 304 Holden 355 it was technically a 350 though, but Holden wanted bragging rights over the small block chev.

I've driven one of these, the gear ratios are quite close. At full noise I couldn't keep up the gear shifts, the clutch friction point is also pretty high!

Absolutely love me a vs, gtsr even more. Thankfully happy to of had a 5.0 and the sound of that v8, slow but damn they sound good. Swapped that for a ba xr6 turbo and now im confilcted, love em both in their own ways, Now to enjoy the daily life of a turbo barra xD

I found originals ones with about 80k kms that got sold on auctions for about 180.000 AUD. Probably the one that got sold for a million had very very low kms and was owned by someone important, otherwise it doesn't make sense to sell it 5 times the price of an already original one

Hey Ross can you come to Sydney and review my 2017 Vf ssv redline it’s got full exhaust and extractors and cold air intake and custom tune it’s pushing 300kw at the wheels and it’s automatic

Less obvious when hidden in black paint lol but yeah the real original VS GTSR wheels were 17", these look like replicas in 20" or around that size.

5.6 T3 Rocks! I know I have one. But in fairness it came a few years later to go toe to toe with the LS which was giving Ford one hell of a bloody nose. Thankfully the 5.6 gave as good as it got! Yes Johnny it’s a stick 1 of 1 TS with all the fruit😎

I remember watching Bathurst when 2 of these heaps were in one of the races..... both caught fire from the same typical holden garbage fault.... they can't even make a fuel cap that doesn't break off 🤣😂
