Love these trucks. Fast, very powerful for their size, a lot more maneuverable than any full size, and quite good looking IMO.

Yep, mine 97 just turned 273k. It's a v6 and it still runs perfectly. Swapping a 5.9 in this weekend :)

I just dont see why they are discontinued, oh yeah, their sells wer declining, and ranger is discontinued for the same reason. wtf is wrong with people these days. the dakota and ranger is a legand

They ruined the Dakota after the 3'rd generation. Had the actually kept Myles Dennis's Design, they'd be around for years to come. Newer is not always better and as tech grows, it gets cheaper, dumber and uglier... Pathetic Really.
@AFXGaming3 жыл бұрын
@@MuddyBob650 it wasnt the ugly design that ruined it, it was the fact that it was more expensive and worse on gas than a ram 1500 full size.. which the ram had more seating, better interior, better towing capability etc etc, they just marketed it terribly

Because for some reason Americans don't want small trucks, they want big gas guzzling trucks instead

my 1999 dakota had the 3.9 V6, still ran when I sold it at 300,000+. My brother's 2001 dakota 4.7 V8 running when he sold it at 340,000 miles, it is being driven across the state on a daily basis by the current owner with over 400,000 miles, with the original engine and trans.

ive got a 2000 3.9 4x4 dakota almost 300000 miles runs great only had it stuck twice and owned for 6 years original motor and tranny

I don't believe that shit for a moment. I have a 98 ram 1500 on its second transmission and the truck now has 274K miles on it.
@WestleyWolf5 жыл бұрын
@@ffhjvbuydb78eb the 1998 models had a tough time on the road making them less reliable than the other years of Dakota models.

@@WestleyWolf Funny because now mine has 277K miles
@WestleyWolf5 жыл бұрын
@@ffhjvbuydb78eb then that's good i guess. we still have a 1990 Dakota that still runs and it has 169k Miles.

89' Dakota - 308,000 miles , 93' Dakota - 268,000 miles , 00' Dakota - 202,000 miles. All with the 3.9 v6. Very reliable and hard working truck. I see plenty of older Dakota's in town, most look like crap but still run like champs.

My '97 Dakota is rolling up to 350,000 miles still driving 15K/year and looks and runs great. Rebuilt transmission rather than buying new truck because nothing else in this class is out there.
@nathantaylor0111 жыл бұрын
I second that. My '99 Dakota has 183,000 miles and still runs strong.

I have a 97 Dak Sport v6 3.9 liter club cab extended. love it, however i just had to throw some money into it as no work had ever been done on it. some of the sensors go bad after 100000mi but i figure a 97 with only a grand of cash put into it is a worth while investment.

@tubamike78 Nice, man! I too have a '97 5.2 with 276,630 on it right now. Great truck. Wouldn't trade it for any other car.

I'm going to look at a used one of these for sale tomorrow... But the tag line "It's full of surprises." kind of reminds me of the Pontiac Fiero's catching on fire back when Pontiac's tagline was "We Build Excitement". Should I be worried? lol
