Before Sunday Night Football was on NBC and must see TV, Monday Night Football on ABC was a pop culture phenomenon for the better part of 3 and 1/2 decades.

Frank Gifford's dramatic range on the intro is very hard to pull off. He made everything sound like D-Day, and most of the time, you believed it was.

true But his main marquee for me was the way "monday" sounded. It was like "mon-dee" Al is incredible, but nobody could make those intros like Frank

Hogwild is right. Talk about a rivalry. This year will mark their 60th anniversary facing each other. An NFC East showdown of the century.
@otaviofrn_adv8 ай бұрын
Some might argue that the rivalry against Philadelphia is grittier and they're not really wrong. But the main rivalry for Dallas from the 60's to the 90's was Washington. Too many marquee matchups to ignore.

@@ghostsofnormmacdonald2446 Tell that to all of the big, tough NFL players who don't want to get concussions and end up not being able to even remember their football careers or function in daily life. Tell that to their wives and kids. Tell that to Junior Seau's family after he committed suicide. Do you think Jim McMahon is a snowflake? Tell that to everyone involved in the Aaron Hernandez case and probably the O.J. Simpson case. If you think I'm a snowflake for giving a crap about traumatic brain injuries, then I'll take it as a compliment. Even Frank Gifford, who called this game, was diagnosed with CTE after his death.

You know it’s just a graphic on the screen, right? You are also aware that these players are adults who know the risks, right? There are many jobs that put one’s well-being at risk, eg, policeman, firefighters, truck drivers, etc. They all know the risks going in. Should all these jobs be banned, too?
@danieldougan2693 жыл бұрын
@@AE-zq4ut At that time, they really didn't know all the risks. Also, football is just a game. We can survive without if it necessary. Those other professions are necessities. Of course it's just a graphic, but it was also a symbol of what football was about to the public. Today, fortunately, helmet-to-helmet contact is a serious penalty. The players' union has fought hard for rule changes to make the game safer, and the league understands that safety, particularly around head trauma, is key to football having a future. If they want the best athletes to choose football as a sport, they need to protect them. If they want parents to allow their children to play football and learn the game, they need to protect the kids. There's a reason they don't use graphics like this today. Knowing what we know today, it's cringeworthy.
