My new-to-me 1997 F250. Purchased about 1 month ago and I've performed various forms of maintenance: Clutch, Windshield, Fluids, Interior repairs, tires, surpinetine belt.... and other basic chores associated with a 120k mile truck. Thanks for watching the video, if you have any questions please ask! Thanks for watching!

My dad has one of these growing up. The starter went on it and we didnt fix it for a short time. We would park it at the top of a hill in our back yard, hop in and rolled down the hill to clutch pop start it and go. One morning we didnt quite make it and stopped just before beach that sits on the ocean. Remember the days of spraying it to to get her going haha. I really want to get one again, one day. Great trucks, especially this year. Love the sound of them.

I grew up with an old 96 f250 and my god I miss that truck (Michigan so it just rusted out too much) just sitting behind the wheel only with such a simple dash that was just beautiful in the winter nights no crazy flashy lights to turn the headlights on it was a plunger you could worth easily with heavy gloves and you can never beat the sound of the engine under load I always thought the dual fuel tanks was so cool.

Do yourself the biggest favor you could ever do for you and that truck. Go to an exhaust place and get a downpipe what's a bigger exhaust, and a cold air intake. Do not go messing around with the motor, the injectors are none of that crap. That truck will get over 20 MPG you will be surprised that the power you will get just from that. I have a 94 and I love that truck. They will last forever if you just take care of them. And it sounds like that's what you going to do. Enjoy it, be safe and God bless. Beautiful ride

So I assume each cylinder has a glow plug for heating the cylinder up right? I'm looking at buying a regular cab automatic in near perfect shape but leave very near Canada and it gets super cold. Has it been a good cold-starter for you? Do you have a plug in for a tank heater (radiator) or block heater? My only problem with diesels is cold weather, literally never getting warm enough to heat teh cab. Of course that was a tiny inline 4 Volkswagon pickup, but still, they just don't run warm and I drive highway miles.
@BobWilson84
@BobWilson84 3 жыл бұрын
Don’t let the internet tell you otherwise.... this 7.3, the first 5.9 and just about any diesel built before 2000 is a poor choice very extremely cold temps. Just my opinion, very cold climates would be better for a newer Cummins or Duramax with more intricate engine computers.

I have a question. I want to get more into trucks and I want a manual 7.3. I’ve seen some that are 5 speed and some that are 5 but have an extra thing labeled “L” (low) on the shifter. What is that for and what does that mean for the truck?
@BobWilson84
@BobWilson84 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, the L is just the same thing as 1st gear basically. Long story short, the manual transmissions in HD diesel trucks is geared to pull heavy junk, so when the truck is empty you typically start in the 2nd gear.

@@Turbotalkin it was a LUK kit with the single-piece flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, crank bolts, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, everything included. One item of note: the throwout bearing was larger than the quill on the transmission. LUK told me that is perfectly normal to have more than expected clearance. I also asked a good friend of mine who's a master diesel tech and he said that's common. The throwout bearing is actually floating on the quill and the springs do the center-ing.
