This game was played on November 1st, 1997. It was a week after that huge snowstorm hit and left a lot of people without power. Some for 11 days! So they weren't able to watch the game.

The Night Nebraska played at Kansas in a rainstorm that looked like monsoon season. I was leaving a bar and grill with my brother after the game, and there were flurries, but my brother said "It won't amount to anything". I was home for the weekend at got back to college 2 days late.

This is the one game against Nebraska, the Sooner’s D totally collapsed. Every other victory OU’s D was competitive. Ever the 1976 game where the Huskers won 72-21, the Sooner D held Nebraska’s offense to three and out during their first five possessions. But OU’s offense was such a screwup, eventually that demoralized OU all the way around, and the game got out of hand. Even in 1995, in N’s 37-0 win over OU, the Sooner’s D was tough.

gregory freeman I'm a Nebraska fan, but I just don't see this level of quality coming back to Nebraska any time soon. Their traditional rivals are in the Big XII (Oklahoma), SEC (Missouri), and PAC 12 (Colorado). How excited are kids going to be to go to Nebraska to play against...Iowa? Michigan State? Northwestern? Good programs, but no history or tradition. Their recruiters need to do a better job of selling their state. Plenty of good players are willing to go to rural states like Alabama and Oklahoma because the programs are so solid and compete for championships. The longer Nebraska is separated from their glory days, the harder it's going to be to turn the ship around.

@@Shahmar "he Huskers should have never fired either Solich or Bo" Neb was totally spot on in firing both. 31 years between them at Neb, Ohio, YSU and just 1, yes 1, conference championship and that came with Osborne's recruits in 99.

@@robjohnson8861 right yet problem was no one want to take over a 9 win coach, even Urban Meyer was a thought but said he wouldn’t of because if winning 9 or more games isn’t enough, why would I take it? Maybe there’s a reason why you aren’t an AD. Solich and Bo were last coaches to get us consistently winning unlike the losers we were stuck with.

KZfaq should have a mercy rule and forbid videos like this. Anybody notice Osborne, leading 48-0, still had Frost and Makovicka in for 1 more score. Another example of his fundamental grasp of right and wrong. I believe this had everything to do with 1) padding the score for votes, but more importantly 2) his bitterness toward OU bec of how many seasons got crushed bec of them.

If that’s the case, maybe KZfaq needs a rule about someone hating on someone so badly. Idk what your deal is. We’ve seen coaches including your god Saban still have starters in the game when up big yet don’t see get him about it. You are pathetic

Ur not completely wrong here. It was OU. They did have his number for a lot of years. They did spoil some Championship opportunities for him. It's football. It's a game. It happens. Nebraska has paid for it for the last 25. 25 years Rob. It has happened to Nebraska plenty of times over the last 25 years. Lots of teams did that especially back then. Osborne was human. He made mistakes. He made bad decisions. Just like every coach. He would also pull his players many times over when the game was out of hand. Ask Steve Spurrier. He even said if it was him, talking about the 95 Fiesta Bowl where Nebraska could've easily hung 70+ on Florida when at the end of the game Osborne elected to kneel inside the 5 on the last drive, that he would've given that 3rd team QB a chance to score in the National Championship game cuz the kid will probably never have that opportunity again. Just sayin.

Also, had he wanted to, he really could've padded some stats for some players to give them records, awards ect. There were multiple times in the mid 90s when Nebraska was so strong they could've put 100 up. They could've padded Ahman Greens stats to give him a Heisman in 97. Tommie Frazier in 95. OU just happened to be a team Osborne wanted to get back at a few times before hanging it up. Questionable decision? Yeah but understandable I think.
